As I was sitting here earlier this morning, a sharp shinned hawk chased what I think was a blue jay, into the nice clean window. It was quite an impact. Put everything else out of my head.
The hawk flew off after a few minutes but I'm still not focusing on much else; it doesn't take a lot to throw me off these days.

Yesterday the same type of hawk killed a dove in our yard. I was out walking the dog around and was able to get within 15 feet of it. It is a beautiful bird.

you are such a naturalist! I am so impressed that you know things like "sharp shinned hawk." I call those things "birds." much like I bet you can say things like "maple" and "oak" and .... I don't even know any tree names. I just call them "trees." All of them.
