The Hunter's Moon aka The Beaver Moon

Thursday, November 5th 2009

Whatever you chose to call this full moon it's been absolutely spectacular the past few nights. It's still impressive this frosty morning.

I spent several hours at the park yesterday even though it was chilly and we never got the sunshine that was forecast. I'd had a nasty sinus headache off and on for a couple of days and I knew if I stayed around the house I wouldn't get much done. My hike didn't start off well when I saw that someone had knocked down all the stone cairns again (why,why,w...

Stretching the Season

Wednesday, November 4th 2009

I got out on my town bike again yesterday and if the weather forecast pans out I may be able to ride again next week – after the snow showers on Friday.

Beer Week

Monday, November 2nd 2009

Normally seeing a nice drop on the scales this morning would motivate me to hit my all my targets for the next few days but this is BEER WEEK! I've decided that since life is short and the future uncertain in the best of times and even more so now, I'm going to a Beer Week event this evening.

Not that I'm a big beer drinker. As it happens The Mister's office is just above The Empire Brewing Company (he can take the elevator and step out into the middle of the pub) and so we have come to kno...

No Tricks, Few Treats

Sunday, November 1st 2009

If I'm going to be left with a pound of something, Bit-o-Honey is a good choice. Our Halloween traffic really dropped off this year and the kids who came by were probably here for the last time. The neighborhood is in transition that way.

The season has really shifted here. The trees are looking bare and now, of course, it will dark by 5pm. Everything about the season is saying "comfort food", the sort of calorie-dense food that poses such a challenge to dieters.

I got out o...
