I had a sobering conversation with my friend T. on Saturday. He was telling me how difficult it’s becoming to get his seafood. His purveyors are keeping their buys to a bare minimum to avoid being left with any unsold. With the high quality seafood T. sells the suppliers are especially cautious and T. can’t afford to pay for everything up front or even store the quantities he usually sells at the holidays.

A local supermarket chain has gone into bankruptcy for the third and final time. Even though they’ve had problems for years it’s another sign that the ground is shifting. This area is now dependent on one huge chain, one smaller and a few independent stores.

I came back to Calorie King in part for a distraction from world events but now it’s beginning to make me feel schizophrenic.

I’m not going to be making daily entries here at least for the time being but I didn’t want to just disappear.
