The next few months are typically my downfall.
As is usually the case, I didnt gain weight during the holidays. I ate reasonable portions of pretty much anything I wanted but I made sure whatever I ate was worth every calorie. The ricotta cake was definitely worth the calories.
But now we go into the dead of winter here. Everything including my metabolism seems to slow down and even though I know theyre getting longer, the days seem terribly short. I pretty much just want to hibernate and I usually fail to cut my calories accordingly.
So far the month is starting off better than usual. Weve had some real snow and Im getting a lot of exercise shoveling and snowshoeing. If this weather pattern holds for the next couple of weeks Ill be in good shape by the time the yoga and Zumba! classes start the last week of January.
Im going to shoot for Valentines Day but I think I will probably be doing well to reach my CK goal by February 28. Id like to spend March and April determining my maintenance targets and then see if I can lose a few more pounds this summer when I get back on a bike and out in the garden. It's a plan.

The fragrance of the tree has faded and the first paperwhites are now taking it's place. Timing is everything.
