Friday, Feb 5 2010 - Embraces Broken and Otherwise

View MARCYINCNY2's food & exercise for this day

I think I've slipped into a kind of maintenance without consciously intending to do so. I've been logging my meal plan every morning (sticking pretty closely to it but not always going back to add the extra nuts or piece of bread) and I've maintained or increased my level of activity but I'm just not spending a lot of time thinking about diet and exercise. No real change in my weight: 143 to 145.

Yesterday I did stick to my meal plan but I used the only listing from the database I could find for duck breast and I'm sure it grossly overestimated the fat. I had a wonderful seared duck breast with crimini mushrooms and a smoked cherry-port wine sauce. The smoked sour cherries were amazing. We had dinner before seeing a good production of Arthur Miller's "The Price".

Earlier in the week I finally got to see Almodóvar's most recent film, "Broken Embraces". It reminded me of one of my favorite films, "Cinema Paradiso", and I thought it was wonderful.

"Cruz's is a celluloid face in a digital world, and for Almodóvar, there's nothing so fragile and enduring."

Cinema Paradiso is my favorite movie. It's been a long time since I watched something by Almodovar...
