Time for New Jeans

Friday, April 30th 2010

I’m firmly convinced one thing that undercut me and made it a lot easier to regain some of the weight I lost first time round was the fact that I continued to wear a lot of my old size 12 knock around clothes when I was quite comfortable in size 8. I guess this notion gives a new twist to the phrase, “Penny wise and pound foolish.”

Next week, despite the fact that I really detest shopping, I’m going out there to buy some new jeans and maybe a pair of khakis. I’m about 12 pounds from my...

Honey Dijon™

Wednesday, April 28th 2010

I think it's fair to say I ratchetted up my weight loss effort beginning on Saturday so now four days out I'm down to a weight I haven't seen in probably fifteen years, half a pound less than the low I hit first time 'round with CK in 2007. Sunday, April 25th 2010

It's back to trying to figure out exercise calories for yard & garden work. I spent a lot of time yesterday pulling the bane of my gardening existence, lesser bittercress.

Weeding for me is usually sitting on an overturned bucket and pulling weeds out by the roots. If that kind of weeding really burned 6 cal/minute I would never have gained a...

Odds & Ends

Saturday, April 24th 2010

To address some questions that have come up:

The flavor of ramps is much like that of leeks but stronger and fresh wild ramps often have some additional layers of herbal flavors.

And someone asked about my Matcha marshmallows. They look much better before I give them a few seconds in the microwave oven and mix them into the yogurt at which point they look pretty disgusting.
