Wanting food to satisfy a need for love is much more motivating than wanting to be thin or healthy. So the first step in losing weight for someone with low self esteem is to practice telling oneself that the world is a good place, that you are a good person and that what you do is okay at all times. Be persistent in these thoughts as they will change your life. Once you have increased your self esteem, learn about having power over your thoughts. Wanting food to satisfy a need to be loved is allowing emotions to rule your life. You must decide that you are loved and that you do not need food to give you love, because you already have it. Once these two things are accomplished you can move on to motivation.
