View MIDDLEROAD's food & exercise for this day

I lost another 1/2 pound this week. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or am at a plateau. This has happened to me before when I was on WW. Right at 15 lbs. Maybe I have been a little looser with the types of foods I am eating, but am staying pretty close to the line. I don't want to beat myself up, but at the same time, I need to understand what works and doesn't work. I was extremely stressed the last two weeks. I also was slightly less on the intensity of my exercise the last couple of weeks. I used some of my exercise calories to cover my eating, so these all could be factors. Still, 1/2 lb a week can add up!!!!! There is no critical timing here! I'll be on this journey for a while.

All the job stress has led me to the decision to retire. T turned 70 in August and I think I would like to spend some time with him. We can go on little trips whenever we please, I can spend more time on walks with him and I would like to have more time to exercise during the day and help my mother out more. I also want more time for my gardening and hobbies. I am mulling the timing over in my mind.

I heard a story once about a women that quit her job just to focus on the weight loss.. I think that might help me too. I deserve the best for myself which includes the time to take care of myself.

Still, it is a hard decision.

My uncle explained to me this weekend that the first 10 lbs or so require less calories to burn, and then after 10 lbs, you need to burn so many more calories just to lose 1 lbs more...have you been lowering your calories the more weight you lose? or doing more exercise?

Did that make any sense??

I like the idea of retiring..You haven't been happy at your job for a while but I know that there are more factors that come into play! Good luck with your decision!

Food amnesia and guestimating? Well I guess that kind of fits. I was a lot of places on the weekend that was pretty much guess work. :'(

I've reading about this in Tom Venuto's book "The Body Fat Solution". He says our plateaus are due to "food amnesia" and guesstimating. I'm paraphrasing. But it's true. At least for me.

You're right about it adding up, though. And, at least it was in the right direction (downward).
