Well, I guess I can't fly away from my problems, but I can run away from them! I got on that elliptical machine and ran like the wind last night. It felt good. I ran faster than I had ever run before and was able to keep it up for a minute at a time. Does this count as being able to run for one minute, even though it was on the elliptical? Hmmmm. Got my heart rate up to 155 and I haven't done that for a long time. I thought I shouldn't go higher than 150, but it felt ok. I was going up to about 140 and told my doctor and she said, "Oh you can go a lot higher than that" but she didn't give me a number. I also got a new inhaler for my asthma and it seemed to make the breathing easier when I ran. So a plus plus all the way around. Now I have to try it on the treadmill. The elliptical actually said that I ran 4 miles in 33 minutes. I have a hard time believing that because that would be 7.5 miles per hour. Something is wrong there. Maybe the mileage isn't exact because the elliptical really goes by rpm's. I just don't get it. I need a polar heart rate monitor. Anyway, I am pushing up my exercise. It is hard when you get into an exercise routine and then try to push it up. It feels to comfortable where you are at. And it is so easy to go a little slower and let it relax.

YES! A plus plus day!!

RE:

A: Pretty much. You are to be commended for your tenacity! movement is movement and some people tend to work out harder on the elliptical than a treadmill. It could just be that people feel more secure (safer) on the Elliptical or that it is a more comfortable ride on the knees. But legs rotation is rotation and elliptical, bike or running is just that -- movement! :y:

I too would disagree with the 4-miles in 33-minutes on the elliptical--yes, something in the RPMs. I think it counts steps and stride by rotation of the pedals and doesn't multiply X 2 for each footstep; only X 1. You could safely divide that into 2 and probably 'ran' 2-miles in 33-minutes which is nothing to be shy about :y:

Keep up the good work. As far as HRate... there is a formula for that; something divided by something and so on (ht, wt, age). My safe range is 136 but I like to see 165.

Keep up the good work!!!!
