View MIDDLEROAD's food & exercise for this day
Well, I met an ex co-worker for lunch at Panera today. I planned before I went that I was going to have ½ of a Frontego chicken Panini. Then it turns out you have to have ½ of something else, so I had ½ of a classic salad (and they didnt have any lo-fat dressing). Good choices, right? Well the Frontego Panini counted, supposedly, as 430 calories. Bull

! There wasnt even 1oz of chicken on that s*cker. I swear to God. When I finished, I was still starving. It hadnt even made a dent in my hunger. WTF. Well this gal I met was soooooooooo slllllllooooooooooooow to eat and stuff, and then she went to the bathroom for like 10 minutes and I was sitting there starving, so I went to the counter and got a free shortbread cookie. It was free because of my points on my panera card. Of course they dont offer you a free salad, or a free helpful food. No, they offer you a free pastry. I got back to the office and ate the whole thing and am still hungry and used up most of my allotment of calories for the day. I am so disappointed! I tried so hard, by looking up their foods ahead of time and trying to allot myself the right amount. I know I can come out ahead today, but those restaurants are so unhelpful. I mean, this little tiny ½ sandwich was nothing!!! How could it be 430 calories unless they slobbered it with butter? It didnt seem greasy at all though. I refuse to believe it was that much! I guess I learned a lesson about going out with others for lunch. If I had just gone myself and eaten and left, I would not have had that cookie. Other people are not helpful!!!! Restaurants su**!

I agree that restaurants often have astonishing calorie counts and it's often hard to figure out where they put them all! I've found that Panera has a black bean soup that's not too bad... but their chicken noodle is yucky (IMO)!
