I haven't been blogging, tracking or even going on the Calorie King website for a while. My mother took a turn for the worse, hospice was called and she left us on Aug. 27th. I was lucky enough to be with her when she went and did all I could to make her comfortable. However, I am being disturbed by thoughts of dying and feeling very melancholy. The only thing that helps is sitting for long periods of time and crocheting, knitting or doing other crafts.
My mom was sick with Alzheimers for about 10 years and I spent a lot of time with her. This last year was especially hard because she went downhill fast. We tried to keep her going right up to the end. At the end of July we even dragged her out to my house for a patio party. The poor thing was slumped sideways in her wheelchair and we pushed her hard to eat even though it was hard for her. But she got to hold her new great grandaughter, and I hope she liked that. Even 3 weeks before she died, my husband, father and the caregiver dragged her to the doctors office. It was then that the doctor insisted my father call in hospice. So, even up to the last three weeks, she was gotten up, dressed and fed at the kitchen table. It seemed a relief to her to be allowed to stay in the bed that hospice brought.

I love you! I'm just getting back to CK after an 1+ month hiatus. I'm going to start trying to log calories again. Even though I know what I SHOULD be eating, I've been having a lot of unhealthy snacks. I haven't gained weight but I haven't lost any either. So, I figure logging calories again will give me that kick-start to start losing again. Love you lots!

Your mother was in good hands. Sounds like her last years couldnt have been better because of yoyr love. You have been the caregiver for others, Now it's time to care for you. Let us know how we can support you. I hope to see you on the c25k thread. Peace be with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. I, too, was able to be with my mom when she passed away. I live 5 hrs in another state but was there since my dad passed away the week earlier and we saw mom taking a turn for the worse. It was an honor to be there during her last days on earth.
Go with your grief - it doesn't leave you for a long time. If sitting and crafting helps, so be it.
