Sunday, Feb 3 2008 - A funny thing happened on the way to the bathroom...

I had to tug up my pants! I was walking through the restaurant last night, and I had to tug up my pants! Yay!
However, my food yesterday wasn't very good. I did okay until I left for church. I had asked a friend of mine to go with me, and then we went out for dinner after. I had a hankering for steak, so we went to one of the roadhouse type of places.
It's funny how when I look back at what I've eaten for the day and question my motives for certain foods. One of my goals for the week is to keep my carbs percentage down, which means I need to concentrate more on my protein. For lunch I ate two Boca burgers, which filled me up just fine. Did I need to eat the apple with the peanut butter? And at the restaurant, did I need to eat the two rolls to start my meal? Had I eliminated those two parts of my food yesterday, I would have been okay.
I keep getting amazed on what logging my food shows me. I don't look at my fat content so much as I usually check when I'm buying the product. But taking a look at how many carbs I've eaten - I know that my eating sugar only leads me to eating more and more sugar. Every time I read the reports, it's like someone is standing there with a 2x4, knocking me upside the head trying to get the message in. And the message is getting there - just very slowly.
The other piece I need to concentrate on is my water intake. I read an interesting article on CK about water intake. I guess the "authorities" are now saying that we don't need to drink 8 glasses of water each day, but that we should listen to our body. How do I know what my body needs? Well, I've realized one way my body talks to me. This morning, at 4am, I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep - why? Because my feet were dry. I've been horrible at my water intake the last few days. And I realized that when I was on top of my water, my feet were okay. And so were my hands. So back to the well I go.
For right now, I'm going to try to find a vegetable chili recipe. It is Superbowl Sunday afterall, and chili is a tradition in our family. I just thought I'd try to put a twist on it.

I get leg cramps when I don't drink enough water. It really is important, but hard to do. When you drink water you gotta....go...and sometimes I don't have time to...go! You sound as if you're becoming very aware of your intake and the make up of it. Before you know it, you'll be buying new pants!
