Hello all,

Last night while perusing the groups and blogs I was struck with a bolt of inspiration like lightning. I was reading the blog of a woman who has started on a virtual walking trip from her home town up the coast of California, Oregon and Washington. And suddenly I realized that having somewhere to GO might make me get up and well .. go! And by golly it did make me. I could hardly wait for my work day to end so that I could go to the gym and start my own personal virtual walking trip.

So let me tell you where I'm starting and where I'm going.

I live in Concord, California. It's about a 30 minute drive east of San Francisco. Concord is a culturally diverse area (as is much of California) that sits at the foot of Mt. Diablo. Mt. Diablo is one of my favorite places in the world. As a matter of fact I lived out of state for about ten years and everytime I came back I knew I was home when I saw the mountain. Mt. Diablo is a rather small mountain at 3,849 feet but that just makes it more accessible. On a clear day from the top of it you can easily see the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific Ocean. Which means you can literally drive from the top of a mountain to the ocean in about an hour. I love that! My favorite season of Mt. Diablo is spring when the orange California poppies are everywhere. It's so pretty.

So having explained a little about where I'm from let me talk about where I'm going - virtually going that is. I have decided to walk from Concord to Pike's Peak in Colorado. From the foot of a small mountain to the top of a giant one. I've mapped out a path across Nevada, Utah and through a tiny portion of Wyoming to get there. It's 1192 miles so even if I manage three miles seven days a week it would take me 56 WEEKS to get there LOL. But that's not the point. I've mapped out little places along the way that I plan to learn about. So really it's more about the journey than the ultimate destination. Sort of like life. I'm so excited talking about it I can barely sit still! I'm looking forward to my journey.

I wish you all well and remind you to move on ...
