For some reason, I thought I'd look for cooking classes in NYC before, but apparently I hadn't. I found this artisanal cheese site that had some cheese-based classes, and decided to look some more. I found a few, the first one I found was out on long island. I checked Chow Hound, and found one in Manhattan that looks interesting (http://www.iceculinary.com/). That place has a pro chef program and whatnot, so that seems to be more appealing to me than the other places I've looked. I'm considering taking their 'Fine Cooking' course, which basically goes through a bunch of techniques and ideas of cooking. And then I can look at some of their other classes - they have some interesting looking ones.

I'm not the best cook ever, but not the worst. I can do pretty well, I just have a fairly small pool of things that I know - i'd like to learn more. I teach myself quite a bit as well. I took a similar photography class a few years ago - I already knew 80% of what was presented, but it re-affirmed what I already knew and I did learn somethings (And re-learned some things I'd forgotten). I suspect this class will be similar.

While learning fancy cooking may seem to run counter to loosing weight, I disagree. For me, cooking means that if I'm making food I like, I'm not eating out. If I'm not eating out, it means fewer/better calories. And, there's plenty of healthy things to cook, or not healthy things that can be easily modified to be a lot more healthy.

I did p90 weights last night as well as doing the push-ups. My friend that did p90 and p90x recommended a 'sports recovery' drink (that the p90x series recommends). I got some and tried it out last night - while I'm sore today, I think I would have been a lot more sore without it. I'm not going to have any on the nights I do cardio, though.

I was also looking at my p90 stats - I keep track of them on google calendar - and I found that I'm not doing that great at actually exercising. I have hit or miss weeks - but it's kind of difficult to do with the holidays. And being sick for a full week of it. So, I'm extending the program by 2-3 weeks, and pushing back the move to the next phase for a few weeks from next week. I think it'll help me more in the long run.
