I've been wanting to make this split pea recipe:
http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2007/12/thick-and-hearty-split-pea-soup.html
And, this afternoon, I decided to make it. And for some reason, roast a chicken to go with it. However, I failed to read the split pea recipe close enough - it takes ~2 hours to cook using traditional means. But, a lot quicker if you have a pressure cooker. For whatever reason, the pressure cooker speed stuck in my brain, so, I was going to put my chicken in the oven when the soup was going. But, then I re-read it, so my chicken was done quite a bit beforehand.
But, on the other hand, that soup is rather excellent. It has a lot of really good flavor - I added some worcestershire sauce to it, as well, to add some fullness of flavor. I think if I make it again, adding some green peppers or poblanos would be good, as well - add a little spice.
I knew lentils had good protein in them - but with that and some soy protein, I'd out-protein meat. I have a lot left over at this point, so I guess I know what I'm eating tomorrow, at least. I suppose I should freeze some - that should freeze ok, I think. I used probably a tablespoon of olive oil instead of the spray-on oil she suggests. I'm not anti-olive oil, so that little bit isn't going to hurt me.
It snowed this morning a bit, and I went to the park for a walk this afternoon. I was going to walk 2 laps of the park - 7 miles, but decided to stop after 1 round. Not sure why, just not really into doing another round today. People were playing with their kids in the park, though, there was enough snow to do sledding. I'm finding that between c25k and the p90 weights that my overall walking speed has gone from ~3.8 mph to ~4.1 mph, but when walking 4.1 mph, I have a *really* hard time keeping my heart rate above 130. So, I've started just calling it 3.5, because the calories here just aren't enough at 4 mph.
My weight went down a decent amount this week - 3 lbs, which I'm happy with. I got harassed at 'team building' for not drinking, and for some reason 'giving it up for lent' isn't a good enough answer for people. However, my reasoning really isn't calorie-based. It's something else.
I'm going to do c25k tomorrow - I realized yesterday that I do the second week for about 10 minutes longer than what you're 'supposed' to do. But, I figure it's not hurting me to do so, so I'll continue to do it that way. This is going to change things up a bit, though, since I'm going to end up with not having 'correct' weeks for the program. But, I guess that's to be expected when doing an outdoor thing like that during winter (I refuse to use a dreadmill.).
I need to do p90 in a bit. Gotta remember to move the weights up 5lbs, which is kind of nice. It's weird - the weight I can lift stays the same for quite awhile, and then all of a sudden, it's just not enough anymore, and obvious it's not. I was mentioning this to a friend of mine, and he said when he was into lifting, he'd see the same thing, so I suppose it's not that unusual.
My grocery delivery service apparently experienced a water break last night and didn't deliver groceries at all today due to safety concerns. I rescheduled my delivery for tomorrow night, but now I'm out of fruit again - only bought enough on Saturday to get me through a few days. Oh well, I'll just have to get some more.

I don't understand why people make a big deal when someone declines a drink. Drinking in moderation is okay for a lot of people, but there are a lot of good reasons not to as well. I'm glad the soup came out well, and that you already have plans for improving on it
