View MORTINI's food & exercise for this day
One day, I may have a real title.
Been working on this thing for work. In essence, it's writing a simple program to do some things to help with the management of a lot of servers. I originally wrote it in one programming language, that's fairly limited in what it can do. After we deployed it, we came across a number of issues with it, so I'm in the process of re-writing it in a programming language better suited for the task. However, in doing this, I've added a bunch of features and made it much more fine-grained than it was before. Previously, it was written like how you'd use a sledgehammer - it works, but it's kind of messy. Now, it's using the right tools for the job, but it ends up creating a lot of unexpected problems.
One of the bigger problems is a change in the way that the whole thing works. The logic for the program as it is now doesn't quite work the same as it did previously. Think of it as following a recipe - you were always taught to make something a certain way, but it turns out that's the wrong order to make it. If you, say, mix the dry ingredients together first, you come out with a better cake. That's a change in the logic of the recipe - and i have a hard time working through logic changes like that, because I'm so used to seeing it the previous way.
I did p90 weights last night. I am using 2 sets of weights, one's at 23 lbs and the other is at 12 lbs. There's some lifts in the 3-4 I just can't do with the heavy weights, so I'm using the light weights and adding some more weights in. The second could be higher, but that's all I have for weights right now. I need to find some 10lb weights for my dumbbells.
Tonight is cardio. I walked this morning, and my shins were ok, but after the walk, they started to hurt again. I really don't want to stop the walks in the morning, but I may have to. I know it doesn't help that I've started sitting on my legs again - that makes my legs hurt, but it's something that I just do without really thinking about it when I'm doing things like writing code.
