Wednesday, Feb 4 2009 - How to convince a foot

View MORTINI's food & exercise for this day

Now I have the arch supports for my running shoes, I've been trying to convince my foot to have an arch. I have flat feet. Super flat feet. Incredibly flat feet. The past few nights for p90, i've been wearing my running shoes getting my feet used to this, this morning, I walked in the park and wore them as well. I noticed that my foot on the right side hits a little differently because of them making it kind of uncomfortable. It was better about 1/2 way through the walk, and I think just wearing the shoes some more will help with that.

I've been going through various variations on my sandwiches for lunch. Today, I was making my un-sandwich with some Lite Italian dressing on top of it. So, it was celery + green peppers + tuna + sun dried tomatoes + black olives + carrots + broccoli + Italian dressing. I added the carrots and broccoli because I usually eat them separate. Since I"m not shoving it onto a slice of bread, might as well mix it all together. As I'm pouring some dressing on, I realize that the dressing I have really adds no flavor, just calories and add some nice Italian seasoning I had. It occurred to me that I should make my own pseudo-italian dressing instead. Even just olive oil + vinegar + italian seasoning would probably have better flavor than what I bought, and have good ingredients.

I was looking in my sauces cookbook last night for some things and came across some various ways to flavor oils and vinegars. I knew about some of the methods for oil - but hadn't considered vinegar. Specifically in the book, they had an orange vinegar - that'd make a nice unusual vinaigrette - oil + orange vinegar. I need to find some small glass bottles to make up some variations with, though. Most of them seem to be good for about 2 weeks or so, so I need to do small enough batches that I can mostly use it all up in that time period.
