View MORTINI's food & exercise for this day
I opted to sleep last night instead of exercise. So, it was an off night. I think Thursdays are just going to end up being off nights generally. If I do exercise mon/tue/wed I end up being exhausted on Thursday. I can do exercise fri/sat/sun/mon/tue/wed pretty easy, though, as I can easily sleep more on sat/sun and I can't on the other days.
Every so often, various things on CK bug me on the forums - some things are just person-based (Like people complaining mostly just to complain, not really that they want a solution), and others are more society based (People want to loose the weight *now* - you didn't gain it overnight, you're not going to loose it overnight). But a more general one is the lack of research people do into subjects. But, my view on this is skewed - I've been using the internets for a really long time (~15 years now), and I'm generally really good at doing research on various subjects. However, there's the whole internet available, and moreso, Wikipedia that explains a lot of things in detail. Sure, entries may be inaccurate and biased, but, guess what, so are general encyclopedias.
So, lately there's been a number of threads on various food science. There seems to be a lot of mis-information about food out there, in general. People with vested interests publishing 'well researched' studies that happen to align with their personal beliefs - as an example the author of 'the china study', which says animal protein is bad, but he's also a member of PETA. The idea that 'carbs don't lead to being overweight' is from a single study of about 10 people in the 60's. So much bad science and cash-influenced science when it comes to what we eat and science in general.
My Grandmother was a nurse in rural Kansas for many years. She was also a wise woman in many ways. She had a pretty practical view of the world as well. She said that your body will tell you what it needs - so, for me, I've always had milk issues, so I never ever want to drink milk. It just doesn't happen. But, I find when I haven't had enough vegetables, I end up wanting more. Sure, I also want the chocolate cake, but that's something else completely.
It seems to me that people need to listen to their bodies more, do their own research and find things that seem to make logical sense to them (Sure, if you want to go vegan, go for it, it might work for you. It would never work for me), and go for it. Don't listen to random people that you've never met and have personal goals in mind (Hi Oprah) and tell you what to think.

It's so hard for me to figure out what my body needs as opposed to what it thinks it wants - I know, for example, that I don't actually "need" to eat seven more servings of almonds after I have one serving (or seven more servings of anything after I've just eaten an entire well-balanced meal and dessert). But for at least an hour or two after eating ANYTHING my body tries to persuade me that it should continue to eat. Why can't it just be honest with me, I ask you? Why must my body think like a child but metabolize like a senior citizen?!
