View MORTINI's food & exercise for this day
Hi.
It seems my body is getting more adjusted to doing the low carb thing now that I've got a decent balance going on. I realized last week that my issue is that you can't do low carb AND low fat. So, I started upping my fat intake, mostly with olive oil. And, the low carb thing became easy to do. So far this week, I've been around 100g of carbs, which is good. I did a run this morning, and did pretty well energy-wise. I had a V8 before, and drank some fiber drink stuff, which I didn't realize had a ton of carbs in it. From what I've read, it takes 2-3 weeks for your body to get good at burning fat instead of carbs, I think i'm mostly there. But, now I need to find some fiber drink stuff that doesn't have carbs in it (well, first I'm going to see if it helps).
It's kind of odd how my frame of reference as to what is 'junk food' has changed as I've been doing this diet. I don't really crave junk food, like chocolate that much anymore. My idea of splurging these days is having *2* pieces of fruit. Even when I drank the fiber drink this morning, I could *feel* the sugar in it. Some good grapes are unbelievable when you don't have the amount of background noise that your body normally has in it. It's like comparing the best steak or burger you've ever had to the worst. Grapes 2 months ago were equiv to the worst steak/burger I've ever had. Now, they're simply amazing.
To explain in a slightly different way. Every time you eat carbohydrates, your body releases insulin. It makes you feel 'good'. But, people are so inundated with carbohydrates, that there's a lot of insulin released. Think of it as though you're in a crowded room with hundreds of people, each singing songs - everyone's song is completely different. Some are louder than others, but, overall, it's just a *lot*. This is the way that most people's bodies are. Since I've removed most carbohydrates, and especially most *large* quantities of carbohydrates (as an example, the most I have is fruit, which generally is ~20g per serving. A cup of rice is 45g), the individual songs are much easier to distinguish.

My body must be in a singing frenzy...I still eat way too many carbs, although FAT is really more of a problem for me! Glad you are finding a balance for your body!
