Tuesday, Jan 22 2008 - work out drink and answers

View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

Yea for answers! I just talked to my medtronics rep and she thinks she has the answer to what has been going on with my blood sugar. right now I am adjusting my ratio to carbohydrates number and one of my basal numbers. We'll see if this helps. I'm thankful that another ck diabetic shared with me what she does before exercise on her pump because I also have the same problem with exercise and having low blood sugars during and after exercise. Who wants to have eat extra calories just because of low blood sugar. Now I know there is a point where you you have to replenish your body with nutrients after exercise and I do that, I just don't want to have to add extra unwanted calories. This is the plight of a diabetic. How to exercise without doing this. I try to exercise after lunch or breakfast right when my blood sugar will at it's highest, but best laid plan don't always work out that way. Now since I've cut back on food I'm having more of a problem too because I'm noticing I really need more carbs in me in order to exercise, or a higher blood sugar level needs to be achieved before I can exercise. This rambling may seem boring to non diabetics but it truly is a puzzle for me to work out in order to lose weight and also not to pass out during exercise. I've come up with my own fruit drink...one can of apple juice 5.5 oz in a pint bottle then fill the rest up with water. I drink this through out the work out. I'm going to see if this diluted juice does the job. This way I'm not getting too much sugar or calories, but enough to help out during a long work out. If anyone has any other ideas let me know.

I just want to compliment you on your perseverance! I know that sometimes puzzles like this are frustrating - especially when your main goal is to just try and be as healthy as possible, and your own body gets in your way. for your resourcefulness!!!!
