Thursday, Jan 24 2008 - Doctor visit
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
The doctor walked into the room grumbling about his day, year and I thought to myself, oh boy it's going to be one of those visits. He sat down and started to look at my paper work then received a phone call. I had already been waiting around an hour to see him what else could delay me. Then he finally turned his attention to me. Well, WOW! Everything looks great. A1c...6.0, chol...down...trig...very low... what have you been doing...weight... down 10 pounds... Now it was my turn to feel proud and relieved. Except for the low blood sugars, I was doing good. He asked me how I was doing it and I told him about my dietitian (Ann) and CalorieKing. Then he wanted to know how to get onto the Ck sight. Now how about that. The patient giving the doctor information! He changed my basal numbers and changed my ratio number to give me an even lower amount of insulin than my medtronic rep did. I'll see how this pans out tomorrow.
In the meantime I didn't go home immediately and change those numbers like I should have. I rushed home to make dinner, ate dinner, and proceeded to get a low blood sugar. Not only that I miscalculated my recipe on how much tomato sauce was in a serving. That also effected the carb count. I was really hungry and tired when I got home. Then I forgot to take out the fiber amount in the whole wheat spaghetti which you can do if the single serving has more than 5 grams of fiber in it. This all effected my carb count. Duh! Just as I think I'm getting the hang of things I go and make a stupid mistake. The sad thing is that I had a really good food day planned out.
Well I'll start again tomorrow. Seared tuna is on the menu with those green beans I hope to get around to cooking before the go bad. Probably cook some small red potatoes with the meal. Have my typical breakfast and go to my last physical therapist appointment. Then get in some serious dog loving time and a car show with hubby.
Tonight the marshmallows won because I needed the sugar, but at least this was planned.

Lory, that must have made you feel terrific!!!!!
WAY TO GO!
I'm proud and happy for you!
I NEVER get on the scale at the doctors office.... I am SOOOO pleased for you! (And the seared tuna sounds yummy too. I highly recommend grilled cheese, by the way (as you mentioned in a previous comment). It's an amazing comfort food, and with tomato soup (I use organic low sodium) to dunk in, it's, well, sublime.

Tomorrow's meal sounds good, what time is dinner/supper? Cricket and I are really enjoying each other. Now that she is getting a little bit use to us, her own little personality is coming out. She is a cutie... How does the saying go, so ugly she's cute

Hope you have a good weekend ahead...enjoy
