View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

Take away the vicoden and morphine doc. I'm ready to give it up after 20 years of being dependent upon pain meds for chronic pain. The doc said, "great, I'll wean you off gently and we'll continue with the steroid injections and exercises." That was the start of a brand new life for me one year ago today. You see, I am a chronic pain patient not just someone who has to loose weight. Some of my friend know that I suffer from a severe back condition and other painful conditions which have plagued me for years. All of these conditions led me to take these nasty pills. Then one day I just got tired of taking them. I noticed that I was taking more and they were doing less.( quite typical of narcotics anyway) The good old doc had been treating me with the latest in spinal injections and nerve burns, physical therapy, and home exercise with the hope I would give up the dope. I finally had the courage to try, and try I did. It's been a year now. One not pain free year, but rewarding year. Why do I share this with you? The reason why is because it helped me to start loosing weight. I tried to loose weight when I was on the pain pills and got no where. I don't know if that means you can't loose weight if you are on pain pills, but for me, they hindered me. It took my body about 6 months to return to proper bodily functions after I got off the pain pills, then whew! Off came the weight. I wasn't expecting such a reward. This one of the things I had to over come in order to loose weight.
Tonight my hubby and I are going to go to a car show, so it looks like I may not get around to everyones blog, but I'll catch up tomorrow. He's a car buff so we try to go to all the shows. It looks like it's going to be a sandwich day for me.
My daughter is getting married Aug.3 in Mich. the day after her and her fiance' run in a triathlon. Boy, are they going to be tired. Well have a good. Oh, I manage to loose 2 pounds this disastrous week! Guess L managed those low blood sugars all right after all!

I'm so glad you were able to get off, as you say! I imagine it would take an awful lot of courage. Congrats! And double both on losing weight and an impending wedding.
