View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

You say I have to weigh and measure my food eh? Won't that get old fast? This was the conversation at my dietitian's office that day. I had heard it before when I was taking the carb counting class from medtronics for my insulin pump on how important it was on getting the proper proportions were to a diabetic. Somewhere in my mind I remember my old Weight watcher days too when I did the same. There seemed no getting out of it. It seemed for good blood glucose control I would have to do what I did when I was on a diet. So, I thought to myself, might as well cut the calories and go on a diet as well. Thus, the diet began when I got serious about controlling my blood sugars better, and a few years latter here I am weighing and measuring still. Some of you get tired of weighing and measuring your food, but for me it means good blood sugar control. I know, if your like my sister-in-law you are probably saying," if you do it long enough don't you get good enough were you don't need to do it?" Well, fresh foods will never weigh the same due to the water content in them and my eyes can always deceive me when I'm hungry. So, to answer her, I said. no, it is safer to always measure if I'm in a situation where I have the ability to and I make no excuses for doing it. It has now become second nature.
I didn't mean to have anyone think that I think my diet is depriving me of the good life. I wouldn't in trade my new eating habits back for the old any day. I enjoy eating healthy and its benefits and wouldn't trade it in for anything. I just get hungry sometimes, that's all I meant to say yesterday. This new life style has brought my husband and I closer together too. We have felt so much better and are enjoying the fresh foods God gave us. My husband is also appreciative that I can finally get back into the kitchen and cook after many years of not being able to. I too am grateful now I can once again pick up my chefs knife and chop up some veggies. I still can't stand up for super long periods of time, but that will come.
Yesterday I went over on my cals as my hubby who is still recovering from the flu wanted chicken wings. I decided to join him and eat some. I eat the plain with no sauce. I had 10 wings which is 5 more than I usually do, but I just got back from the gym and had this protein craving.I l also indulged in 1/2 cup potato salad, 2 oz. carrots, 2 oz small tomatoes. Is this called binging or a regular meal? I put in my meal plan and it showed I went over by 197 cal.
Well off to see the doc again to re-adjust the pump once more. Maybe this will be the magical time and we will get the right numbers that will stop my lows. Bye all.

Hi :hi:
Thanks for posting on my blog. I :heart2: getting messages!
A bosu trainer is like 1/2 platform and the other side 1/2 ball. It's a great piece of equipment to work your entire body. You really strengthen your core also. Plus there is a lot you can do with the ball. If you go here you can see their official website www.bosu.com
I used it for the first time last night and I'm sore today. It's great!

I hear you on that discount...isn't that how it always is at the doctor's office?! Wait around, wait around, wait around, and then you're ushered in and ushered out. Oh well, I guess that's the healthcare system these days!

Hopefully your sugar levels will be GREAT tomorrow.

I remember the good old Weight Watchers days too. I think my scale is still in the cupboard. You are so right about deceiving yourself when you are hungry, I still get out a measuring spoon to measure my peanut butter every few weeks or I tend to make 2 t. into 2 T. pretty easily.

Hear, Hear (or is it Here Here!) in either case, I TOTALLY agree with you about weighing and measuring (even when people like my husband laugh!) Sounds like a regular meal to me. A binge, I think is mindless, uncontrolled eating. 200 calories over, when you've got it all mapped out, does not a binge make!

I think binging means different things to different people. That wouldn't be a binge in my book! :y: Good for you for taking care of yourself. It IS hard! You CAN do it!
