View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
I am learning that every successful dieter has to do homework in order to guarantee that the pounds will come off and stay off. There has to be some head knowledge involved in this endeavor. So, today, I took my pen and notebook with me when I went grocery shopping on order that I could do some comparison in food values for myself. A while back another Cker had writer in her blog about extra lean ground beef being better than ground turkey. I couldn't quite believe that for myself, so I had to see it for myself. Sure enough, if you take the 85/15 blend turkey meat which has the skin ground up in it, the extra lean beef has better numbers all around. Less fat, less chol.,less salt. If you compare it to the extra lean 100% all white meat turkey, it does not. The lean turkey which is probably the dark meat is about the same as the extra lean ground beef as it is with the ground chicken.( ground chicken is 150 cal. for 4oz. fat 9 g.;sat.f.=2.5;chol.=75mg.;sod.=65mg.;pro.=18g.)There, I can have ground beef on my beef days as I can top sirloin if I want to eat lean beef. Top sirloin is good on the grill after you marinade it with veggies and in soups and stews. ground beef, well you can do anything with that. Now, I have learned my diet can included beef more often thanks to a little homework. ( by the way while in the store today someone hijacked my grocery cart. I looked down and it was gone. I wear a fanny pack so I wasn't worried about my purse, but I want my cherries for tonights dinner. They were the only ones left in the store and my husband loves cherries. I realized a lady had taken my cart instead of hers because hers was sitting right there with her veggies since we has exchanged hellos. I went looking for her. A few rows down I found her an made the exchanged with a very embarrassed lady. I chuckled and asked her if she knew how to cook swiss chard since that is what I had in my basket. She didn't even know what kind of veggie that was. I laughed and told her she would have found out if she had taken my cart home with her. We laughed and went on our way. She had earlier introduced me to mexican onions which are a larger version of green onions. I'm going to try those out soon in my stir fries.
Tonight is VAL. day so I may not get around to visiting everyone to say hello. I will do that tomorrow. Have a good even. Tonights menu is sinful. Salmon in herb Lemon sauce, sauteed swiss chard, blackeye peas with cipolline onions, and cherries/cool whip-lite for him, banana/yogurt for me. So long.
