Sunday, Feb 17 2008 - ruby tuesday's mini turkey burgers
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
Howdy folks, it's a beautiful day here. The sky was clear, temp around 73 degrees, and a nice comfortable breeze. I took my dogs for a walk which is guaranteed to slow me down, but how could I deprived them of such a nice day to get out of the house too. Actually, I was trying to work off my lunch time meal. My hubby took me to a movie and out for lunch. We went to Ruby Tuesday which we had been to before. This is the place I had taken my scale to and measured out those mini turkey burgers. I knew the carb count, but could only guess at the calorie count since they were not on the web. I had asked the waiting staff before and know one knew the calorie count but today I luck out and met a manager who knew where to get that information. I must say persistence finally paid off and now I know how much those little turkeys will cost me every time I go in. If anyone here has a Ruby Tuesday near you and wants that info I'll share, but let me know so I'll know to blog it in my next blog. I was surprised when I got a run down of their meals to learn how many of their chicken dishes had more calories than their beef dishes. I did manage to salvage my calorie day by eating a light dinner and going for a walk and doing some core exercises. This week was a loss anyway, so I'm not too upset about blowing the cals.
I'm going to try out ground chicken this week. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet. I found some in a store and wanted to see what I could come up with other than a meatloaf. I thought about dumplings or meatballs of some kind. I need something that I will get the most for my calories. I am trying to add one new recipe a week to my diet so I won't get bored. If anyone has any suggestions I am open. I know most everyone works and plans on easy meals. I'm looking for the same because of my shoulders. Well, except for those dumplings, those are not easy. Those would be ambitious to make.
I can know get up to 2.0 speed going on the treadmill at a flat incline for 20-30 minutes. I have to build up to that speed. I can't start out that fast though. So, every other day I do the treadmill. It's treadmill, water jogging, then treadmill, water jogging and so forth. This way my back and SI joint won't take the full impact or stress of the ground. I think my daughter calls it cross training. She reminded me it is good to stretch out before and after a walk on the treadmill. I stretch out in the water using a noodle.
By the way, I am collecting and putting into a notebook restaurant's menus that I get that have their calorie count like the one I was given by the manager at Ruby Tuesday today. Some of these I have gotten of the internet and some I have looked up on the ck sight. My husband was mentioning that if restaurants had their calorie counts next to their prices he would order differently. I guess everyone here would love that too.
Tomorrow if everyone would like the recipe, I will blog my diabetic salmon patties. See ya around.

I just love that icon and had to use it.

I read somewhere recently that NYC or Boston is considering making it mandatory that restaurants have their calorie counts on their menus. I really hope it happens, and spreads throughout the country. I think so many people are much more health-conscious these days, and people would really appreciate it!
:)
P.S. My blog pic was actually taken in Las Vegas, at Siegfried & Roy's Tiger Habitat. So cool! (If you could see the whole picture, you'd see there is a big lion in the background!:cool

You know, Ruby Tuesday's USED to have the calorie count next to all of their meals, then it switched to just the ones considered "healthy" -- have you ever seen "Dottie's Weight Loss Zone?" there is a LOT of restaurant info on there, go to www.dwlz.com and click restaurants.....Ruby Tuesdays is there, too. I have been trying the recipe a week too. We can share!

I roasted them for about 25 minutes at 400 degrees, they were pretty large so if you use smaller ones then I would say 15-20 minutes at a high temp. Be sure to line your pan with foil or a protective liner because the balsamic tends to burn a little which makes clean up a bore.
