View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
The past two weeks of my diet I have been hungry and going over my recommend calorie count every other day or so. When I weighed in today I didn't gain anything, but I didn't lose either. I'm not going to blame this on my on going battle with my low blood sugar although this has been an issue. I have had good eating plans set, I just have had an appetite lately. I don't know if this is because I have increased my activity from bona fide couch potato who was just rehabbing to someone who has kicked it up a notch. Even my physical therapist has been impressed by my increased ability to move. I wonder is this the reason why I have been so hungry or am I doing something wrong in my diet. According to the treadmill, I am still only using up around 70-80 cals at a time. I figure all the other floor exercising could bring that up to 90-100. A lot of times the extra calories I get from exercise goes to raise my blood sugar which often falls too low during exercise. I have been working on that problem with my doc and metronics rep, and almost have the formula, but it's not a given. Still, a fruit doesn't seem to quench my hunger after a work out even though it raises my bg fast and granola bars have too much sugar in them. I think I want to take a look at my diet and try to come up with some ideas that might help me solve this problem. Maybe a bagel instead of a muffin in the morning. Maybe soup instead of a salad at lunch. Give me your ideas.

I am not an ace at the nutrition part but increase your water too! Just a thought. Way to get going with this and paying such close attention. Keep with it. You will find what works for you and then watch out!

When I am hungry a lot, beans do the trick for me. I love fat free refried beans, bean soup, and split peas. They fill me up, I can eat them whole or blended (depending on the texture I am looking for), and they keep me full for quite awhile afterward.

Lory, I find that people tend to fall into two categories. They are satisfied by either protein or fiber. If fruit doesn't do it for you, try protein. Have some egg beaters for breakfast intstead of the bagel, or put some peanut butter on your apple after your workout. When I had a lot to lose, I never counted my exercise calories (I didn't eat them back) -- that also helped with not having to be perfect with my calorie count for everything else. You are doing GREAT!
