I have decided that I am a protein girl when it comes to feeling full. I have tried it both ways. A little protein with each meal and snack helps to satisfy my hunger more than fiber. This could be because of my diabetes too. If I eat too many carbs, I start craving them. When I get a carb craving, I often have a problem with my blood sugar. I do try to make what little carbs I do eat be the most nutritious ones. ( except for the occasional piece of candy:P. Now that I made that decision, I'm sticking to what my dietitian recommended and put a protein with each meal and snack and upped the protein in my breakfast. Today was my first day going back to this format. I will see if it helps. ( my only exception will be when I have a yogurt. There is enough soy protein to count as a protein so I won't have to add one).
Today I'm going to try out that ground chicken in a stroganoff recipe. It was hard to figure out all the data on it, but I finally got pretty accurate to what each serving is thanks to the CK data base. It beats having to look it up in my book and then do all the adding myself which I did first. Then I compared it to the computer to see how close I came. From now on I am going to let the computer do all of this. I hope this recipe taste good after all of this. I am using a substitute sour cream (tofuti) since I can't have dairy. The substitute has no chol. but is higher in cals.
I have a whiny dog today as she got her teeth cleaned yesterday.She hasn't felt too good all day today. I think her throat is sore from the tube they stuck down her. She's such a baby to begin with, all 7 pounds of her. The other dog is 17 pounds and follows me around the house. He cried all day that she was at the vet. Apparently he missed her and went around the house looking for her, from room to room!

I am jealous that you are a protein girl! I am carbs all the way, and its my downfall. Some days, I struggle to even meet my protein needs. One of my goals is to be more balanced about this! Let me know how the stroganoff recipe turns out--that sounds great!=D

I need my protein too. Some days it is hard to get enough low fat protein eaten. I bought some low fat cheese yesterday so I am going to try that. I think my dog has cabin fever she has been very ornery the last few days, or maybe she is picking up my mood!!
