View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
I've been reading some of Ck's material on self esteem and realized that a lot of my over eating has been because of low self esteem. I talked a little about this already when I shared how I had to learn how to like myself first before I could loose weight. Self esteem and liking ones self go hand in hand. I really enjoyed the Ck article, "Self-Esteem: Your Weight Loss Maker Or Breaker?" because it gave helpful ways to aid in building up my self esteem. I could see myself trying some of the suggestions and have worked on some today. One of my hardest is in accepting compliments from other people. For every compliment a person would give me, I would feel I would have to tear myself apart because I could not accept that someone would be saying something nice to me, after all, I knew the real me. Was this false humility or low self esteem? It turns out it was very low self esteem. My husband ask me why do I find it hard to accept that people can find it hard to find something to compliment on? I guess it is because of the way I was treated by a lot of people growing up. You add to that the fact that we live in a very competitive world where everything has to be be the "best" it can be, and this perfectionist can't deal with not being "Prefect" or the "best". STUPID. Now that you can get me on. Well, I how ever I feel like looking into my personality quirks today, I know self esteem has been a problem. It has effected my weight in many ways. This is going to require further thought now...
Ok my turkey burgers are very simple
1 lb ground turkey
1 red pepper minced
1 yellow or orange pepper minced
1 medium red onion minced, about one cup
1 tbs olive oil for sauteing
4 tbs ( or to your preference ) Salt Grass Seven Spice Steak Seasoning (www.Texjoy.com) or any steak seasoning of your choice. This seasoning mix is just the best all around blend that I have found. You can order it on line or go to the Salt Grass Restaurants and get it. We put the spice on veggies, fish, poultry, beef, and turkey)
Saute veggies until soft. Mix into meat with seasoning. Form into patties. Grill. If you make patties with a 1/2 cup measure they will end up about 3 oz. A 2/3 cup will make about a 5 oz. patty. Depending on the type of ground turkey you use, you can come out with a fairly lean burger. The Lean ground turkey meat does grill nicely. The extra lean sticks to the grill and will need Pam. The 85/15% ground turkey is great tasting but it comes out to 45% fat with the olive oil. You can cut out the olive oil by using a non stick pan and a little veggie broth, but that will change the flavor some. This recipe works for ground chicken, an extra lean beef. For a variation, I make these into meatloaf patties by adding 1 egg beater, 1/4 cup bread crumbs. Form into patties. Grill with a piece of cheese on top. I have my own calculations for all my variances, but I wasn't sure how everyone would be cooking theirs.
OK, a George Foreman grill would also work well with these, but I never tried my recipes on one. Down here the weather is mild. Grill weather year round according to my husband. ( gas grill

I had a similar realization recently. I felt like I didn't deserve to be thin. Kind of silly, huh? What exactly does one have to do to be worthy of being thin? Well, now I know the answer is "nothing--you're already worthy" but it took me a few years to figure that out. Life is a journey, isn't it? It seems there is always something we can learn about ourselves if we're willing to look
:look: I can't wait to make your turkey burgers! I haven't had a chance to make the salmon patties yet either. I haven't been cooking much!

Good luck with the surgery and thanks for yet another great sounding recipe! I need to read that article. For every good thing anyone tells me I have at least 5 negative things I tell myself!
