Saturday, Mar 29 2008 - Great news plus recipe for clemetine freeze

View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

Good news tonight, Bess blogged in to say she made it into the doctor and is feeling rotten but is ok for now. We will continually be lifting her up in our prayers as she recovers this week. Everybody can go by and say hello to her in her blog " Bess".
My dog Gambit is about the same. The vet called me Friday night to confirm we are dealing with a nasty fungal infection. It will take at least 6 weeks of meds to clear it up. Now if I can get him to eat and keep his strength up. I may have to take him in for IV foods if he doesn't eat much this weekend. Yes, I am worried still.
I was told to go ahead and go to the races tomorrow. My daughter and FSIL are racing in a half ironman in Galveston. Last year I missed this race because I got sick. They really want me to see them race and this is a short one too. I should be able to with stand the heat since it is early in the season. ( 80's tomorrow ). We'll take the scooter and a lawn chair. If you have ever been at one of these it can be a hoot at the end of the race. Now this is where it pays to be thinner. I can with stand now being a by stander. All that extra weight made it hard to just stand around. Now, I feel a little bit better.
Tonight when I walked my little dog, I met a neighbor's dog that had gotten out. It was a pitbull/boxer mix.( So the owner says, to me it looked more like an American Staffordshire pureblood )This friendly dog came barreling down upon us and pounced on my little dog. She was friendly and wanted to play and my little dog didn't know what to do. I scooped up my dog just in time to hear the words " Hazel , come back here!" Well, the young teenage boy and I had a friendly chat about how to control his dog and not to hit his dog when it doesn't behave. It's good to know the neighborhood dogs in case they get out, but it also served to remind me what if that hadn't been a friendly dog. It didn't matter the breed. My other neighbor had a charpee (?) (those Chinese wrinkle dogs like Nancy Regan has ). This dog was mean and would get out of the house and chase people away from the house. If you even got near the house it would charge you and try to bite you. So, I was thinking of buying some mace and taking it with me when I walk. I hate to have anything extra with me when I walk, but I already carry glucose tablets and my phone in case I have BG problems in a fanny pack. ( also a epi pen since there are tons of wasp in my area and yours truly are allergic to them.)
I will be packing snacks for tomorrows races. I have a frozen fruit treat too. I am interested to see how this one turns out. I have ice packs for my lunch kit that should keep the frozen treat cold for a while. They should thaw and be slushy mid morn and ready to eat. We'll see. I'll tell you how this goes. These are perfect race foods.I took a clemetine chopped it up, 2 oz. of plain FF Soy Yogurt, 2 tbs granular Splenda, 1/2 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract and mixed it up and put it into a Small Glad Plastic freeze container. Cals including splenda = 82 carbs= 15g ( don't count splenda carbs, but do count splenda cals)By the way, Monday I will show more freeze combinations. Talk to you latter.

I make a similar frozen yogurt treat with the frozen dark cherries. It is yummy! I mix it up in my small food processor so it's smooth. Mmmmm! I think I'll make some tonight. :smile1:

I'm too late to wish you fun at the race, so I'll say "Hope you had fun at the race" :clown1: We have a 15 month old German Shepherd who weighs 87 pounds now (hoping the growth stops soon--she's a big girl!). We walk her twice a day and have met so many people in our neighborhood because of her. She's very friendly and always wants to play with any dog she meets--even if they are tiny. She will get down on the ground so she's eye level of the other dog. It's sweet how she always wants to play with everyone and tries to even out the size difference. I've run across several loose dogs over the last 9 months that we've had her which scares me to death because I'm not really a dog person (though I love our dog!). Hope you never have to use the mace!

I had an episode with a mean dog when I was out walking on the railroad trail and there was no toher person in sight. I was scared, remembered not to look them straight in the eye and I looked around for the biggest stick that I could find. The strangest thing,a group of deer ran across the trail and the dog went after them...after that I always took a walking stick on the trail with me.

Oh I'm glad you told that teenage boy not to hit his dog! You know, they sell mace that you can carry on your wrist. You wear a wrist band and it holds the mace. My friend's mom wears it when she walks their dogs in case if a mean dog gets out and tries to attack either her or her dog (she had a bad experience like that. Hence the mace). Your frozen fruit treat sounds creative and delicious! I hope you enjoy it and the races! Have a great day, Lory!
