View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

Well I put a new photo on my sight and it disappeared. Tried it again and my old photo just keeps showing up. So here is the photo I had in mind to replace it with. Grrrrr My injection Went well. I slept like a baby all through the night with all that anesthesia in my system. Nadine, Nerve burns are when the doctor goes in and and takes this special tool, I forget the name of it, and sears small nerves which will grow back over 6-8 months times. By doing this it deadens the area and gives a pain patient some relief. He doesn't want to hit any major nerves for obvious reasons so to map the area out he goes in the week before and gives you a cortisone shot and watches the area through an x-ray. This also gets the inflammation down. This is what I did yesterday. I have to do this on the areas of my back about twice a year to keep the pain down. This is why I have been able to get off the drugs. I have a leading doctor in the field. I lucked out when I found him. I can always tell when the nerves have regenerated.
The surgery center I go to for these procedures know me by name since I have been going there for so long. The nurses there have been following my weight loss and all have been very supportive. One even came by yesterday to see how I looked and smiled. She said I was floating away. I chuckled since I am still a big girl. All the pain specialist wanted to know if getting the weight off has made a difference in my pain level since they always tell their patients it does. I confirmed it for them that I was surprised, but it really does make a difference. So, every time I want to give up or I get lazy and have a bad week, I just have to remember this myself. It has made a difference. The more weight I get off, the better I am going to feel. My knees feel great now, my SI joint hurts less, and I can almost sleep on my back for short periods of time. When I get more weight off it is bound to make a greater difference. Oh, and I am sleeping better too in general.
I did eat like a pig yesterday but not after 5pm. So, I conquered the after dinner eating monster, but over ate anyway. That's three nights now I have not eating past my evening snack. How many more before I break this habit? Now I have to get back on my calorie target.
Can't wait to try out my new shoes. Yea!!! I even ordered some sandals that are extra depth and can be adjusted around my bunions. This means I will have some dress sandals for the wedding. They are black, but who cares. They don't look like old granny things. Now if they fit I'll be in heaven. I'll have 4 pairs of shoes to my name. This is the most I have had in years!!!! It is a real pain having wide feet with bunions, but I'm not going to get them operated on since I'm a diabetic.
The rest of the week I am going to focus on exercise and stretching. I've been ignoring my stretching. How many of you all stretch out before you exercise? I get into trouble if I don't. The CKU talked a lot about this and my daughter mentioned you need to this before and after you exercise. This goes even if you are weight training that day. Thought I would mention that. Building bulk without flexibility will only lead to injuries.
By the way, on my profile page my new picture is there, but on my blog my old picture is still up. Any one have that problem? I tried Corine's suggestion and that didn't work. I sent a e-mail to CK... I wonder if I will get reply. The picture seems to be the right size??
Hey I got the e-mail and they told me to refresh the picture which is what Corine told me to do. Only f5 doesn't work on my key board and sorry Corine I didn't know that is what f5 is suppose to do. Not computer literate here. So I did that and the picture pops up but there goes my before picture. Now that picture disappears.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK, for those who are reading this blog after 1:45 Central Standard time, I finally got the picture thing all worked out. You can now see me at my heaviest. I was 240. The me at 170. That's Gambit a week before I had to put him down. He had lost about 4 pounds and wasn't up to his usually self. This was my last picture of him.
Got word from Bess just a little while ago that they took Syd off life support. They do not expect him to live through the night. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.

I like the new picture! I am really liking the Beck book. I am going through it way more slowly than one chapter each day. I am trying to make each piece habit before I move on. I'm still stuck on slowing down my eating, but I think I'm getting much better and may be ready to move on to the next hurdle. I would definitely recommend the book. I like that rather than theory, it gives practical goals that I'm finding really help with my eating issues.

You made such a difference to yourself. Good job! -- Finding good fitting shoes is a problem for me too. Except for my running shoes, I only own 4 pairs. I know people with 65 pairs. When do they wear them? :)

Such a nice picture! Is that Gambit in your arms? Is your back pain the result of an injury? I've had a couple of back surgeries but thankfully I have basically no issues from them. Losing weight and exercising (especially strengthening my back and abdominal muscles) has really helped me with pain. I used to go see my chiropractor a few times a month but now I go a couple of times a year. You're right that stretching is so important. I do mine in yoga. Yoga gives me great flexibility and strength. I can't remember the last time I woke up with a stiff back--even with all the yard work I've been doing the last couple of weekends.

I love the new picture too! You look great. I tend to stretch after I work out, unless I am dancing...then I stretch before AND after. You're not supposed to stretch cold muscles though, so I always make sure to do a good five minute warm-up before I stretch. I read somewhere an analogy about muscles being like "taffy." If you try to stretch cold taffy, it will just break, but if you warm it up in your hand, it tends to be more pliable. This is exactly how our muscles are, so make sure you never stretch cold muscles! I hope you have a great Friday and I am glad to hear your procedure went well. =D

Hi Lory,

I wish I could help you with your photo troubles. I see your old picture both in your blog (off to the side) and also on your profile page. At least we can have a good look at you at the top of this blog and you look great! I'm glad you're getting such positive feedback. Also, about the knees, I couldn't figure out what was wrong with mine a number of years back when I'd go to my son's games and have trouble climbing the bleachers. Then I lost a lot of weight (not intentionally, stress) and noticed that I could practically fly up them. Now I've gained the weight back and my knees once again are not happy campers. Also, this past year my SI started acting up - so there is a connection between weight and joints. Take care Lori!!!!! Cheryl51

I love the new picture!! And absolutely getting the weight off will help to relieve the pressure on your joints -- I read somewhere that every pound is like 10 extra on your knees. I am so glad that you are getting so much positive feedback from people that are noticing your loss -- and especially that you are feeling better, too!
