View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

It's been a busy weekend and will be a busy Monday. I got off my heinie and finally made it the water aerobics class at the gym on Saturday. It was a barrel of and easy since I have done years of water therapy. The only problem was they jog in water the whole hour which actually I could do without a problem. Unfortunately, the nerves in my back didn't like it and I felt them, or I am feeling them all right now. I will either have to modify how I do this type of water jogging or go back to water jogging with a belt in the deep water. There's a big difference. I have some possibilities in mind on how to modify... like go to deeper water and jog so the water in the deeper water prevents my spine from feeling the impact...put on my jogging belt in the shallow water and see if I can still jog without causing pain in my back. I do so much want to do this. It would be neat to be able to exercise with other people. It is more fun and motivates me to get up and go to the gym, especially since I met someone who would love for me to come back. I will see if I can make it work out. In the mean time, I do I have a laugh, all the upper body stuff was way too easy for me and the abdominal stuff too. Even the cardio stuff was too easy which surprised me. I guess I'm in better shape than I expected, except for no disc in the spine !:angry2:
Did meet an Indian woman names Uma. Uma wants to lose weight but doesn't know how since she is a vegetarian. Gee, guys, now I know many of you are veggie people and would love to help her, but there is one problem. She eats a lot of veggies native to her land of India. She is going to take me to the Indian grocery stores in the Sugarland area ( there are 3-4 of them ! ) and show me these veggies and other native products. So, please give me the names of your veggie friends since I only know Kathi who is a veggie person. I will need to be calling upon these people in the near future for HELP!!!!!!! Anybody know Indian veggies ?????? I figure a root vegetable is a carb and leafy green will have few calories in anybodies country. Potatoes are potatoes and lentils are in the bean category and not a veggie. OK, food sleuthing in a foreign grocery store should be a lot of fun. My Japanese friends took me to theirs and It was a delight. Now I get to go with an Indian friend to hers. This is going to be special. I will take her to Central Market in return.
Tomorrow I will go with my husband to the Oil Technology Conference ( OTC ) that is in Houston every year. He has to go for his business every year and likes me to walk the floor with him so he won't have to go by himself. I love going so I can see what he does. It's a good way to educate myself in what he does and it's fun to see all the equipment that he so often talks about because it would be Greek to me if I hadn't seen it in person. The food at the place though is nothing that a healthy person should eat. SO, we are going to take some snacks and eat after we see everything. There's a Mediterranean place across the street that serves good food. I know I can eat there, but I have learned the hard way. It is a buffet !!!! Lesson one, only get three items. Lesson two, research and ask questions about how the food is made. I found out the cabbage rolls are vegetarian and low fat which make them a good choice. The rice is simple and has no added fat and so is the steamed squash. The Baba Gannoush is loaded with calories, avoid it. Love the stuffed grape leaves, we'll see how it goes. I didn't know how many cals these things had in them until I tried to log them in. Moral of this story. Always try to log in restaurant food even if you can't figure out how. You may actually figure out how and be surprised. I took home this place's to go menu for a reference for how to spell the food items and then was surprised at how many items I found on line. I then asked the manager some questions. At first he was hesitant until I told him I was a diabetic and had food allergies and needed to know a few simple things.Managers are more open to you when you have health concerns and need the info. My blood sugar lets me know how accurate I am on the carb count two hours latter and thus in many ways I can know calories wise how many carbs I ate. Its the fats that are hard to figure because they are so hidden into the foods we eat.
The picture you see is my husband's Ford Saleen Focus. Steve Saleen made 200 of these special edition Focuses for the Ford company. He hot rodded them by putting in a special suspension and N2o in it. This car can fly when you put the Nitro on...yes, remember the fast and the furious... that kind of thing. According to the stats it can get up and go 0-60 in 6 seconds with the nitro. Not bad for a I4-150 horsepower car. Well, it's a collector's car, or will be, and gets good gas millage at 30 miles to the galleon on the highway. He traded in his mustang for this car because he needed the gas millage and wanted this collectors car. What can I say, I married a car buff.
Have a good Sunday

What a fun looking car! My husband will be so jealous! I'm jealous that you have an Indian friend to tell you about cooking Indian food! I have done my best at making things just following recipes but I love Indian food and would love to have someone show me how to make a few things. I have an Indian friend in Dallas but he can't exactly teach me how to cook from there. He did bring me a sari from his last visit home which I can't wait to wear!

Love the car!!! I use lean boneless pork chops or I buy a pork loin and cut it into meal size pieces and freeze the extra. We grill a lot of pork too, marinate it first or it is kind of bland.

I have never ate Indian food. I can't handle spicy foods; so I avoid foods I think might be spicy. i do eat Mexican, but the salsa is theior spice and I just leave it off. I hope you have a great day.

I don't think Indian veggies are different than yours. I love Indian food. They use carrots, potatoes, I don't know about peppers. The point is their food is caloric because of the sauces. It's not the veggies causing the problem. They also eat a lot of rice. Google chicken tikka masala, korma, vindaloo and you'll see recipes for their sauces. It's wonderful food - perhaps my favorite. They use a lot of curry as a seasoning, too. You might try going out to an Indian restaurant to help your friend, which I think is lovely. Also, thank you very much for the prayer for C. This is very difficult for me. I have no more spare change. I can't lose anyone anymore. I think you'll understand. Best wishes, Cheryl51
