Tuesday, May 6 2008 - OTC/ Making a goal/ Thanking those who helped

View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

Yesterday was a good food especially since I spent most of the day out about town at the OTC with my husband. This big oil field conference had plenty of exhibits we had seen before so we didn't spend a lot of time there. My hubby had certain things he was looking for. I planned on walking more than I did, but didn't get the chance since we took the scooter in case my back acted up. We were going to take turns walking, but my hubby wanted to walk more. He finally let me do some walking when I told him my legs were getting cramped.:( Anyway, I had a good laugh as we counted how many of the booths had candy in jars laying around on their tables. I told him this would be a kids trick or treat heaven. I managed to resist sticking my paws in the candy bowls. The only healthy food there to eat surprisingly were the deli sandwiches were selling for $7-9. Other than that you get greasy hamburgers, barbecue, pizza, hot dogs, and beer. We bought our snacks and ate after we left the conference at the Mediterranean place across the street. I had already planned what I was going to eat there the day before. I did well and stuck to my plan. A little planning made yesterday's food day successful.;)
Today I weighed in with a 3lb weight loss. I probably lost a pound last week, but due to all the anesthesia didn't show it. I get stopped up after surgery and weigh heavy for a while. So, for those two weeks that I didn't show any weight loss, this week makes me happy. CK doesn't know that. They think I lost too much weight this week eating funny. Oh well. I do think I will make my goal of 150 pounds for my daughters wedding in Aug. Maybe Nadine will be right on this too. Exercise has really helped.
Every time I hit a ten pound mark by CK goals I like to thank my dietitian who taught me all that I know. So, thank you Ann for making this diet possible and giving me my CK membership.
Now on to something I have accomplished. Conquering night time eating. I do allow my self an evening snack whenever possible. I have it around 8pm and no latter than 9pm. The only times I have blown it is when I have had low blood sugar. Then I am at risk of over eating. I now know my weakness or danger zones and will work on these to try to get my percentage of nighttime unplanned eating down to 0. Right now I am at about 95% after an evening snack. What helped me was to realize if I could fast for surgery 12 hours, I could certainly go till morning for my next meal. I am using the Beck method of talking to myself now and reminding myself of this point every time I think I need a snack after snack time. I say to myself, I have had enough calories for the day, my blood sugar is good, my pump will sustain my blood sugar level the rest of the night at this level, I can drink tea or koolaid to satisfy my tummy, I can be a little hungry, it never hurt anyone before. I did this before surgery before, I can do this again. Believe me, the day before surgery I got very hungry for some reason and had to go 12 hours without food because the doctor got behind. I did it, and it taught me a lesson I needed to learn. I can go without food for an extended time. This has helped me at night. Since that day of surgery, my night time eating temptations decreased 100% because my mind and body learned it could go without food. Wow, what a lesson to learn from surgery !
That's all for today. Off to get my ring resized. It's a whole size too big ! It's falling off my finger!
See you tomorrow.:karate:
Oh this is a picture of all the things I picked up from the booths at the OTC. I liked the fake rock and seal logo. I could have gotten a fifty pens, but chose around 10. There are several stress relief objects like the fake rock. I got several neat tote bags ( could have gotten a dozen or so of them, bit I chose the neat ones ).

Day 3 is sit down to eat. Day 5 is slow down and be mindful of what you eat.

Night time eating can be a problem for me. or at work so bored I nibble; like cheesecake today. But life goes on. I need to do this me and for Amber and so I can stick around to raise her; but it is hardest thing in the world to do. have a great day.

They knock out my cat with gas to shave him. There's no way anyone could shave him without it! :afraid2: It's expensive but I'm always glad I did it because he feels better after. I never thought I stood up to eat but I found myself eating the first few bites of a meal in the kitchen before sitting down. Eating without distractions (computer, TV, magazine) has been hard for me!

I read this somewhere recently. That we as American's (i.e. the instant gratificiation country) somehow don't understand that we *dont* have to satisfy the "hunger" feeling immediately - that it is important to learn that we could actually survive for DAYS without food. Love that you have learned it! AND, you definitely will make that goal. No maybe!

Free stuff!!!! =D I have had to talk to myself about being hungry also, I now know it is OK to feel hunger it doesn't need immediate attention. Someone said every time you feel hunger your body is burning fat, don't know if that is true but it helps to think about the felt melting away.

I love picking up shwag at conferences. Something about a pen being free makes it so much more enticing. haha! You're doing so great, Lory! Stopping the nighttime eating has made all the difference for me too. It's so nice to get that bugaboo under control!
