Monday, May 12 2008 - THe fruits of the Spirit and Dieting/? Juice Plus Questions
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
I was sharing with my niece last night who is a great friend and cherished follower in Christ with me. We were talking about my weight loss journey and I shared with her my Beck " Why I want to lose weight " response cards" as she had asked me too. As I read my list with her she exclaimed, " The Lord is working in you fruits of the Spirit ! In other words...Character for those who aren't familiar with the fruits of the Spirit mentioned in the Bible. I got to thinking about it and had to agree with her. Yes, I had set out not only to learn to be content, to learn self control, self discipline, and become less greedy when it came to food, but that self control, discipline, lack of greed were all fruits of the Spirit. No wonder my walk with the Lord has grown stronger this past year as I called upon Him to help me with my diet. This was not just diet of the flesh but of the spirit. How refreshing to get a new perspective on things and see on my one year anniversary my diet from God's perspective. I can now understand why perhaps the Bible says gluttony is a sin. It is a life out of control and not bearing the fruits of the spirit:self control, discipline, lack of lust for food, contentment, emotional dependency on God and not self. This has brought new light to my diet.
I have come to realize every 10-15 pounds my insulin meter may need adjusting. I was expecting to go longer between adjustments, but it doesn't look that way. I was hoping for a 20 pound/then adjust meter type thing. No go. I've been having trouble all this week with lows, so here I go again, only this time I've been given permission to make some changes on my own then call. I'll be trying a few things out this week. I also need help from everyone on the exercise thing. I got way too hungry after exercise this week and ate too many calories. Didn't lose a thing this week and perhaps gained a pound back.

Well, it happens to the best of us. Opps see

So, I'm back to the drawing board on how I'm going to handle exercise this week.
????? Does anyone know anything about Juice Plus supplements??? I met a dietitian in the park when walking Xena the other day that sales the stuff and she gave me a cd to listen to. It sounds too good to be true. Vegetables in a pill that give you an extra boost? I would like to know if anyone is on these and if they feel better because of them. I only get in 3 veggie servings and 3 fruit servings a day on my calories restrictions. I can't get in 7-9 servings of vegs and fruits a day on my calories per day as the man in the cd says we need each day. I would get fat if I ate that much. I guess if you only ate plant veggies you could do that ???
On a sad note, I got news a short while ago that my brother in law is not doing very well. I have two brother in laws who are fighting cancer. One is in remission right now and the other is making a turn for the worse. F's cancer has now gone into his liver and after trying for over a year to stop it, the doctors have told his family they can do no more. They can treat symptoms now and try to make him comfortable. We in the family are planning a get together lunch on June 7 to go visit him and be with his wife. This is really rough on my husband's family. My daughter is really doing something special by going to this family gathering up in North Texas then driving all the away back to Austin that afternoon to work in a wedding she was obligated to that evening. She said it will be important to her to see her uncle since this may be the only time she'll get to since he is doing so bad. Yes, indeed we are in for some sad months in my family even though we are preparing for a joyous wedding. It much reminds me of my own wedding situation as my own father had cancer before I was to wed. He died two and half months before my own wedding. I was so hoping he would live to see me wed.

I'm sorry to hear about your BIL Lory! As for your questions, I think the boot camp definitely will help with toning. The only place I have a lot of extra skin, really, is in my stomach. Focus on getting to the top end of your weight range and see how you feel. Honestly, I don't know if the 120's is maintainable for me. I haven't been there since BEFORE high school
:afraid4: But, I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing and let the weight go.....where it may!
