Monday, Jun 16 2008 - Catching up
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
Monday is my catch up day and rest day from the weekend. I try to catch up and read people's blogs for the week since I have the day to do so. I also rest up from the weekends activities if I need to. Yesterday daughter and FSIL came over for dinner and a movie for Father's Day. FSIL showed me how to down size the size of a photo to fit the size requirements for CK. Gee, you sure lose picture quality when you do that. He also downloaded and gave me a tutorial to Adobe Photo shop 3 which is a professional photo shop. Hopefully over the next few months I will be able to learn how to learn some of the basics of it. I also learned it wasn't me, but my CK sight that has the problem down loading pictures. A followed the instructions to the letter and had trouble too getting my picture up. We finally had to load a secondary picture in to get my first picture to pop up. Go figure. Does anyone else have this problem? Anyway, my new photo is up. For months I haven't been able to change out my member photo so I asked him to help me. He said I followed the directions correctly and that there must be something wrong with the software or there is something we don't know.

Also, anything I shoot with my new camera will have to be resized if I put it onto Ck as I shoot in a higher resolution.
About the neighborhood alligator. We have bayous in Houston for drainage purposes. Seinna which is my sub division has them through for that purpose in case of heavy rains or hurricanes. This is where some of our alligators live. They don't bother people because the fish, squirrels, possums, armadillo, and neighborhood wandering cats are their food source. We don't feed them and it's against the law to have contact with them. Everyone knows to keep away from them even the kids. If they get out of their habitat they are put back in it or done away with depending on their size and situation. We had one that got out after a big rain washed it up, but was chased back to it's habitat. Another got on the main drag and was hauled off. Frankly, I'm more worried about the big hawks eying my Xena than the alligator. Those hawks can get into my yard, and they are HUGE. I've seen those Hawks go after the squirrels and rabbits in the cove which is just down a few houses from us.
I'm finally down a POUND ! Yea the body is back to losing again. That feels so good. I thought I was going to never see that scale move again. It just took a little more discipline on my part ant going down on some calories to jump start my metabolism back into gear along with getting back on the treadmill. I followed the guidelines for getting out of a plateau that I read recently and it worked. The zig zag method of changing your calorie count worked for me. I changed my exercise routine by adding elevation to my treadmill walks for part of my walks and going a little longer. In other words I increased my work out ( intensity of the work out ).
Today My thoughts are on the fact that as I have dieted this year, I have learned not only a lot about myself, but I have learned a lot of information about food and exercise, and life in general. This has been a classroom of experiences. Time is a big teacher in this game, patience is a virtue as a pupil.
He who endures gets the "A" and wins the prize as well as loses the weight. So, my friends, those of you who are having trouble staying in the game, hang in there. Remember it takes time in this game to win the prize. Sometimes you get sent back to start when you get caught cheating or messing up. Then when you do things right you sometimes get to skip grades and make great advances. Hang around for graduation day and you feel like a new person like I do now. That weight loss diploma is well worth it. Eating right and feeling good certainly now is my motivation and often keeps me from eating bad foods. I now enjoy going to class everyday to see what I am going to learn. You can too.
Until tomorrow. Lory

:rock1:. My dad use to live in Jessup GA, in south GA, not far from the swam areas of GA. I went to visit and he had a lake in his back yard and 2 alligators lived in. It was amazing, dad would fish w/ one of them laying in the water not far from him; his dog would have a fit barking. One of them was killed before he moved back home; because it went after his neghbor's grandson, daddy and his neghbor's property borded the lake. My daughter was only 6 but thought it was neat, but she was scared to go the lake also. You have a great day...

I do the same thing as you mentioned to me, making snacks for myself and my husband. I like cut up peppers an cucumber spears with salsa. And plain yogurt with fresh strawberries or low sugar jam. My husband thinks I'm "nuts" because I love to shop for produce.

There is definitely some kind of problem with changing the photos. The first time I tried I had to keep trying over and over. Only when I shut my browser and reopened it, I got the new photo. It is like a school here, and I find if you're open to learning, you learn things about yourself in the bargain. You certainly look great and have accomplished a lot!
