View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
In my town we have one of those fancy grocery stores that sells gourmet every things. It's a foodie's heaven. Whole Foods is for those who need the organic stuff and Central Market is for all the other stuff you can't find there plus more including high dollar Prime Meats. Well, they also have a lot of tasty food to sample. I usually do good in not partaking in the offerings, but today I was, well munchy. So, when I got home I wondered how I was going to log my extra calories, especially since I bought two sugar free chocolate covered bing cherries as a special treat for myself. I decided to set up a Central Market Munchy file in my food diary and give it 75 calories since that is what I guessed I consumed today munching around the store. ( a good treadmill workout is in the works for this afternoon to get rid of those calories ! ) Hum, Don't know why I haven't thought of a misc. guess file or food folder before. It sure beats not trying to log food you don't know how to log. I can go back and delete this the next day, but at least I put something down. Sure it's a guess, but it will do to keep me in line the next time I go into the market. I'll be thinking, do I want to waste those calories on tasting that bread again. There's something about seeing it in a log that brings it home or into reality what you did. Then you realize you could have had a piece of fruit if you hadn't done what you did. This has given me great motivation not to nibble the next time one of those sales ladies sticks a piece of food in my face.
Tonight I don't have to cook because P is going over to help the kids put in their wood floor in their workout room. Hubby has done all the rooms in our house and only has one room and a closet left to do in our house plus the trim to finish. My art room is the last room to finish. When it is done, I will be able to get back into drawing again since my shoulders, hands, and wrist are now all healed. Its been a good five years since I have been able to pick up my pastels and brushes and everyone in the family is eagerly awaiting my return to my work. I am too. I wonder if my talent will come back or if I have forgotten hoe to draw. My cooking skills are coming back. Only time will tell. Now, I have a camera to assist me. I love to draw animals, face portraits, and sports scenes. My daughter on the other hand is the creative one. We think someone put acid in her milk one day with the things she thinks up. She absolutely is a right brain artist. Her fiance is also an artist. Both grandfathers were artist and there are several aunts and cousins who are too. So, we think there will be a good chance there kids will have some talent too.
Today I went to one of my back doctors for a follow up. He explained the difference between walking on the treadmill vs. walking or running on the sidewalk. The sidewalk is much harder on your body because it doesn't give. It also isn't even and doesn't help you push off. The treadmill will do all of the above. So, if you have bad knees or a bad back, go with the treadmill. If you are sore, go to a treadmill for a few days until you are not sore. When you are working outside your form must be perfect or your body will pay. It is good to ice down after you stretch if you are sore too he said. If the pain doesn't go away in a few hours, take a day off and take it easy and let the body rest. Most of us will feel some tightness when muscles that aren't use to working start getting worked for the first time. This is normal. It's when you start feeling nerve pain or that pain doesn't go away that you have to stop and rethink what you are doing. Like the above, stretch and ice, you could need to have a doctor look at you. In my case, my doctors and PTs are constantly following my progress as I am going through this exercise program to make sure that I don't blow my spine out. I can call and set up an appointment any time to make sure I don't go too far or to see where to go next. Same with my PT. Every exercise level I do now has to be under supervision. So, with that said, I'm going to end my blog and head out to the gym for my walk. I usually walk in the morn, but am doing it in the afternoon today. Yesterday, my car acted up and I couldn't make it to the gym. So I am behind. Everyone have a good, wonderful, day.

Yep
;) I do see the diff. Thanks for stopping by! I have read myself into a frenzy trying to absorb all the knowledge that I can about the glycemic index, hypoglycemia, pcos, insulin resistance, yadda yadda etc. etc.
:bigeyes3: My most useful piece of info. I have picked up along the way is to eat a balanced 1 to 2 ratio between protein and carbs. So I try to stick with the complex carbs/ low glycemic foods and protein combo. It has been working for me
;) Now about the chocolate covered stuff... I am going to check out the HEB here in SAntonio, hope they have them!!!!

Gastric bypass is totally out of the question for me. I don't fault my co-worker for doing it, but I don't like the idea of doing anything unnaturally that I can do the natural way--especially when it can't be reversed. She's shared with me a few other things that make me glad I didn't. For example, if she doesn't take her vitamins daily her hair falls out! I don't think I'd even qualify for it if I wanted it. I don't think I'm overweight enough that I'm in medical danger and I have no other health issues. I'm pretty proud of that!

Acid in her milk
:laugh5: That made me laugh! That's interesting about exercising outside vs. on the treadmill. Since I've been running a little during my walks with the dog I've noticed my knee hurting a little. My form is probably not perfect so I guess I need to back off for a few days (unless 24 Hour Fitness will let me put my dog on a treadmill next to me
:laugh5: )

Of course you'll remember how to draw because the talent doesn't come from your hands it comes from your soul. Your body and soul has undergone some pretty great transformations that will be reflected in your work. I'd love to see some of your drawings posted when you begin again...

Don't worry about forgetting how to draw. I'm sure it's still all there. I love food stores, too. We have Trader Joe and Uncle Giuseppe, which is a huge Italian market that smells so good you could just keel over. I don't go there very often. I drive less now that gas is so much. A file for Central Market. Great idea!

Hi Lory, Thank you for thinking about me and posting on my blog. Your info was very useful. I have been walking/jogging outside in the morning. I feel like the treadmill is harder on me , it seems harder then on the sidewalk. It makes sense though, The gym doesnot open early enough in the morning. I do go in the evening sometimes and use the treadmil/elliptical there. There is as wim meet size pool at the rec center. I would love to use it and it would be great for my back. However, I have it in my head, I will not go until I am under 200 pounds. I am just to horrified to even think about wearing a bathing suit in public.
