Monday, Jun 23 2008 - oops made a mistake

View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

I had a good weekend except for one oops in the food area. Sunday, my hubby and I were doing really well. We ate our typical breakfasts and packed veggie snacks in a cooler to take to the movie after church since we would be eating late. I had a sack full of cut up veggies and coffee during the Get Smart movie an enjoyed them throughly. Then, after the movie we ran an errand and were ready for lunch. I wanted to go to Luby's so we could get some veggies and he wanted the new Japanese place we had eaten at because it would be less crowded. I won, kind of. We went to Luby's, but one look at the long line and my grumpy husband didn't want to wait in line:bang:even tough I thought by the time we got in the car and drove some place else we could be threw the line and sitting down eating. So then we went to the Japanese place to find out they had some sort of problem and had to close down for repairs. :angry2: Now, I was frustrated because I know my husband gets flustered when he's hungry. I had mentioned before all this eating at home sandwiches, but he didn't want to and I didn't want Subway. OK, neither one of us was cooperating with each other. I think we were having a battle of the wills at this point because we both looked at this Mexican restaurant and I said Ok knowing full well I can't eat anything in a Mexican place. He had the buffet which he had a modest amount and I ordered a 2 egg omelet with potatoes, much too much fat.:barf3: When we got home we both agreed we should have come home and had left overs and won't make that mistake again. We did have to cool off first before we could laugh about our behavior, but it took me all day before I was not mad at him.:$ Lesson, make sure there is something to eat at home after church and going out at the movies. Plan on there being leftovers on Sunday so I won't have to cook when I get home. Usually I do this, but I didn't this weekend. Bad girl ! There simply aren't that many places either of us want to eat or are good to eat where we live that we can eat healthy. All right, I let you in on this because it was a good lesson for my husband and I. We learned what being hungry can do to a relationship. We will have to watch this on our trip in August since we will be at the mercy of unusual places to eat and with people who don't share our food choices. This weekend let us know we have some thinking and planning to do.
Anybody heard of the new sweetener Swerve ? I bought some today to try. I will talk more about it tomorrow when I have more time. It taste very good. You can look it up on it's web sight for info on it.
I walked 1 3/4 miles today for 160 cals. I'm sore.:dazed: Getting faster and stronger, just too bad I have a bad SI joint and hip to go along with the lumbar problems or I could fly on that treadmill. That would be sweet, or cool as the young people say.
Talk to everyone tomorrow.

You are so funny! Sweet! I hate it when my son says that (he's 10 and it makes me feel OLD to admit that I hate it!) -- you definitely had a lot of challenges surrounding those food choices -- and you did the best you could with what you had. I am going to MA this weekend and I KNOW I am going to have to suffer through a lot of the same poor food options. I am DETERMINED not to let it get to me & undo the progress I have made. It happens to me ALL the time when I work my way either down to my lowest weight or up to an event. NOT THIS TIME! & not for you too by the time you get to that wedding you're going to be weighing even less so you need for it to stay that way!!

Thank you for your insight on my blog about hip pain being worth the extra weight. I definately know when I pick up even a basket of laundry that the pain is worse. And I'm a whiner. Even I'm getting tired of it. So thanks for the mantra. :) Oh, and what is a freezie and where can I get them?

I can totally relate to how hunger can affect behavior and attitude! Whenever I get hungry and in a situation like that, I turn into kind of a witchy woman--Brad knows he's gotta get me something to eat stat! My mom is the same way too, funny how that works out. Did you like the movie? I love Anne Hathaway so I really want to see it! =D
