View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
Last night I felt absolutely rotten emotionally. It was 8 pm and I hadn't even made it to the gym all day for my much anticipated walk. I thought about going outside, but at 8 o'clock it was still 93 degrees outside and the air was humid. I told my hubby of my emotional day. When I mentioned I thought a good walk would do me good and I thought I should get myself up to the gym even thought was late, he actually told me to go for it. So, I got dressed and went a walking. So glad I did. I walked 2 miles at 2.5 speed and did my first 24 minute mile. It was also the first time I built up to that speed without it hurting. I was so elated when I hit that mile mark I let out a big whoo hoo and people looked around to see what was up. I forgot I was in a public place there for a while and turned a little red.

This Saturday when hubby and I went to Home Depot I kept up to his every step and more for the first time !!!! Usually I'm asking him to slow down and walk slower just to keep up with him. Wow ! He even paid me a personal compliment about my posterior end.

getting firmer !!!!! This makes up for the fact I haven't lost any weight in a month, in fact I got up this morning and weighed in a half pound more. Can you gain muscle from just walking ? I can't lift weights due to dr.'s orders, so I was wondering if I could be getting some leg muscles finally from just walking. There's still so much fat down there you couldn't see it, but hubby says he feels a difference and he would know ?
What is a good pedometer to get. I now am looking at buying one. I want a digital one.
Talk to everyone latter.

You're building up stamina and strength so I wouldn't be surprised if that equated to some muscle building up. I think you should yell out a "whoo hoo" often at the gym--keep everyone on their toes!
=D I don't have much experience with pedometers but you can get them so cheap now that if you buy one and it's bad you can easily get another one. I've seen really fancy ones under $20 and pretty generic ones under $10.

Nice that you could walk in front of DH and that he noticed what hard work you've done, and that he told you!!!

Hi Lory, i am so proud of you!!!! You are living proof that persistence pays off. My nickname for you is the little engine that can!!! I know sometimes I have a bad day or just do not feel like going to the gym. I feel as if Ihave to drag myself there. However, everytime I feel so much better afterwards! Great job on the walk and congrats on the 24 min mile. Now is the time to be gaining momentum from all the things you are noticing.

Great exercise! I think you build muscle from walking, I noticed it in my thighs and rear. I need to get back to the treadmill, maybe after the 4th (I have been saying that for weeks!!!).

Wow! You have done really great! 5.6 A1C is awesome, that is what my last one was too! I always want lower, but my doctor told me not to try too much, as I get lows ALOT. I didn't think Januvia was supposed to affect weight loss/gain, so you might just be on a regular plateau. But if you continue not to lose weight too much longer, you could ask your doctor if any of his other patients complained. But still, your 85 lbs so far is great, you are an inspiration. And I would say walking would definitely tone up your muscles, especially the calf and thigh ones.
