As promised, I want to tell you about the wedding day. It was a beautiful day. The temp was around 85-88 degrees, it was sunny, and the sky was clear. That morning my brother paid for my daughter, myself, his fiance, and her daughter to go to a spa and have hair, massages, and nails done. I just had a massage since my hair had already been done. There was cake there baked by an authentic European Bakery. My future sister in law kept at me to try the cakes as she told me the Europeans don't make sweet cakes like the Americans. Well, ok, I took a finger and took a like of them. Yep, she was right. The cakes had a subtle sweetness that American cakes don't have. I wish I could have eaten a bite of them because a lick would be all I would allow myself as I wanted to keep my blood sugar in line for the day.
When we were finished, my brother drove my daughter back since they were going to the same hotel and we went back to our hotel to rest and get ready. It wasn't too long before we had to get ready and go help our daughter get ready. Yea, she wanted the help and indeed there were a few things that needed to be done to get her ready. Joanne, Aaron' mom, had made all the preparations for the wedding and was still running around making sure everything was where it was suppose to be. While I made sure the girls got into their dresses and the groomsmen had all their coats on right. Like usual, the bride's dress needed some safety pens, someones coat needed pressing, and a bridesmaid dress needed a ribbon made for a last minute add on decoration. All in all everything Joanne did was fabulous in her preparations, and I managed to hold up my own end.
The ceremony was neat as the groom and bride had decided to write their own vows. ( actually that was Aaron's idea much to my daughter's dismay. She just knew for sure she would get up there and start crying and not be able to say or remember her lines, so she was petrified of saying her own vows. As a result, she decided to write them down and read them. The laugh came when to her amazement, she found out he was going to do the same thing.

). After the vows the couple did the Armenian custom of the crowning ceremony ( or they might of done this before the vows... ) This is a special custom in the Armenian Orthodox Church in which his family comes from. They also reminded the couple of Christ love with his Great, great, great grandmother's cross during this ceremony which is also a part of the crowning tradition. I wish I could remember the history and meaning of this tradition, but I think it represents the joining of two families into one. It's a united ceremony of some kind. Anyway, the ceremony, was simple yet Beka an Aaron.
The reception was also pleasant because those wedding after pictures were not dragged out. The kids did not want those dragged out forever. They had in mind exactly what they wanted and did not want to spend an hour taking photos. Fifteen- twenty minutes latter and we were out of there and at the tables or going to the reception. And the food was the best I have eaten ate a wedding for the price. I didn't expect it to be that good. We had grilled chicken, Roast turkey, prime rib, all of these had a slight butter or sauce of some kind on them except for the turkey which you had a gray you could add. There was a regular romaine salad, an oriental salad, two different pasta salads, rice pilaf, real mashed potatoes, and a snow pea, red pepper, type steamed vegetable mix that was real fresh veggies and not frozen. There were wheat and sour dough rolls. The appetizers were fresh fruit and cheese, some kind of meat skewer, some kind of finger pastry. All I got a bite of was the fruit and meat skewer thing. My fruit kept mysteriously disappearing from my table. I latter learned I was suppose to have been served a fruit cup that Joanne ordered special for me and the other diabetics. We were charged for these as we were the Champaign that didn't show up at half the tables ! Boy, was she mad about that !

I didn't miss the champaign, but I sure could have used the fruit. There were plenty of those fancy green drinks to go around if you wanted one of those though.Hubby had one of those.
The night was fun. I even took to the dance floor with the single girls when no one would join them.

They took off their shoes and were boogieing. SP ???? I latter paid for that stupid move the next day as I was sore for the next few days. Well, most of the guest were from out of town and the bride and groom were staying in the honeymoon house on the property, so that most of the guest were leaving before the wedding party. the ones who were staying at the lodge or near by stayed on till 12 when the place shut down, but everyone else had to leave around 10. My hubby called it a night around 11 since we had a plane to catch the next night. Our newly married kids walked us to the door as they continued to party hardy. Fortunately for us our adventure would not be over as the great American Airline would give us a ride for our money the next day as they would re-route us around the country to get us home before a "hurricane " was heading in our direction and Chicago was rained in. It all worked out to our advantage though as we made back into Houston a whole hour and a half a head of schedule. The last leg of our journey was to pick up my sweet dog at the pet lodge!
As it turned out, I did all right food wise. It took my body a week to recover from the traveling and to get the traveling weight down. Once I did that, I realized I had actually lost a little weight or stayed pretty close to the same weight. My weight is fluctuating between 149.5 and 150.5 right now. You all know how that goes. That portable scale was a worthy purchase. It really helped me to stay on program. I got it at TheKitchenSrore.com for 29.99. I am going to put a picture of it on my blog from my camera phone so everyone can see how small it is. I turned the lid up so you can see what the tray looks like when it is open. The tray turns around and closes up so that the scale is more compact. The button on the left is gram and the one on the right is ounces and the on an off button. It can weigh up to 8 oz. THe scale is Salter scale model number # 1250 in case any of you want to order one.
I will be having my hopefully last steroid shot Thursday. Yucky. This means no exercise for a week or two and no weight loss either. It is all I can do to keep from eating the house down after one of these shots. I have learned to be very carefully the following weeks with salt too after these shots.
I went to the foot doctor today for my check up and to have my legs measured. Yep, I was off significantly. Most people are shorter in one leg, but if you are off by more than 15mm it can cause damage to your hip or SI joint and or spine. No surprise, he didn't even have to take x-rays to find out I was way over in the measurement to find this out. Now we can start taking corrective measures in my shoes and see if walking on the treadmill will be less painful as will walking in general. Believe me, I have constant pain because of this joint. If I can get any relief from anywhere, I'll take any step to find something that will help. Today when I walked, I could notice a difference. Yea.
God be with you.

I finally got a chance to go back and look at the photos. What a beautiful, happy day!! I remember smiling so much at my wedding that my face hurt at the end of the day.
:smile1: I love that little scale. I may have to go check out the Kitchen Store. The scale I have is from years ago when I did Weight Watchers and I wonder if it is even still accurate.

oooooh I like that scale!!! Good for you for learning your ups and downs that go with that steroid shot, it is only a week and a week goes by fast! Whooo hooo for figuring out the source of your pain. Thank you for sharing the details of the wedding, it was surely beautiful. Just remember, even though you made this goal, the journey is not over for you!! Keep up all of the good work!
