View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

It is sometimes hard to motivate ones self once you reach that comfortable stage in your weight loss program. I have reached that stage where I have lost that significant amount of weight to reach all my medical goals and even my emotional goals. I even look better enough that some would say and have asked, "why go on from here. " This is a good question I have had to ask myself. Do I want to go on from here. I had to answer this question deep within me before I could continue or I wouldn't be able to motivate myself to stay on a diet. Could I come up with new goals that would motivate me enough to sustain me through more months of grueling exercise and a lower caloric intake. After a few weeks of struggling with this question, I have come up with the answer, YES. Yes, I can find and did come up with reasons to continue to lose those final pounds. Some of them are quite vain ones, others are practical. These are some of the reasons I came up with :

1. More weight off of my back means less pain ( and good for my knees )
2. easier to move around and to exercise with less weight on the body
3. my tummy will get smaller as I lose more weight. I just want left over skin there and then the tummy will lay down more. This is my biggest motivator. I measured I have about 3-4 inches of loose skin here, but the rest is still body fat. If I lose that fat, then my tummy skin will lay down and I will have the appearance of a flatter tummy. All that loose skin can be dealt with latter as I will have a big hunk of it.
4. I may not need any medication ( although I don't ) for diabetes if I lose more
5. I need to follow this through to its end conclusion to prove I can do it. I need this for myself and what it will mean to my emotional well being.

At every stage in our weight loss journey we have these re-commitments. I like to say they are a normal part of going through what we are doing. After all, we humans are an emotional creature who need our minds to work for our bodies to follow. I have to work on my mind at all times in this journey. Sometimes, I have to work harder on my mental game than I do on my physical diet. I feel like this past week has been just one example.

Talk to everyone latter.

WOW! You have done such a great job! You are so smart to come up with goals and reasons to keep on rather than losing motivation. :)

Absolutely true, Lory!! The challenge is to remember that this is not a 'diet' that has a beginning and and end, it is to find the balance between "diet" and "lifestyle" -- where healthy eating (and normal portion control) balance out with the "events" and "pitfalls" of life -- events, birthdays, vacations weddings(!) and pitfalls -- caving to double stuff peanut butter oreos -- and moving on....you can do this -- you are more than a number, get to the place where you feel comfortable -- and go from there!
