Friday, Sep 12 2008 - Ike is on His way

View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

Ike is barreling down the Gulf coast and heading my way and should make landfall sometime Saturday early morning, but we have been told to expect the outer pockets of rain and wind to start as early as late Friday evening. There are some CKers who live in His direct path. I live just outside of zone 3 by a mile or two 50 miles from the coast. That means I can expect to get some pretty high winds from Ike where I live and some high rains. Unfortunately, we can't board up our windows because of our house design. Grr You would think the builder would have though of that when they designed these houses out here. Anyway, we are ready, but my nerves are not.
I will confess to some extra eating last night due to nerves. Todays goal will be to plan out my food and stick to my plan and try to distract myself from the pantry when ever I feel anxious. Food will not make me feel better according to Dr Beck. Well, actually it does for that moment it is going down, than after I eat it, it doesn't. So, I guess she is right about the after part. It sooths at that moment, but in the after moment it doesn't, and around the waistline it sure doesn't. So, I will get out my STEP and every time I feel like eating I will go and do a little routine on my STEP to try and distract myself from eating. I also have some cleaning chores to do today and hubby said he will help me with them since he is home today to. ( everyone got sent home from work today to prepare for the storm. ) Well, that's it from here. Talk to everyone when I can get back on the computer again. Hopefully that will be Sunday providing we have the juice in the house the run everything. God be with you all.
-----------------------------------
It's 5pm and the wind is finally picking up. Nope haven't been using the step, but I have been pacing the floor back and forth. We are eating left overs and trying to make sure that some perishables are used up since they will be the first to go if the juice goes out for more than four hours. I expect if I do lose my electricity it would be out for at least 12 hours depending ion when it goes out. My prayer is that is doesn't go out at all. I can't believe some people stayed in Galveston. What saddens me the most is that these people put our emergency workers in harms way and their animals. Would you believe I still am getting sales calls from around the country today !!!! Grrr. Get off the phone people, that's the last thing on my mind. Talk more if I can.
---------------------------------
5:50 We are finally getting rain. Some neighbors went over and offered to help another neighbor with a basketball goal which was already moving around in the wind. That neighbor just laid down the goal and thought it would be all right. :bang::angry2: I had gone over earlier and offered to help them tear it down so they could put it in their garage !!!!! My husband offered again. Well, at least they are going to move it to their back yard so it won't go fly into my front yard or windows. We just finished dinner. All the neighbors wished each other luck and went inside. You can hear the wind now. The lights finally flickered meaning our energy spikes are beginning. Hubby told me to turn off the computer since we are getting the energy spikes now so this will be my last entry. I got in a shower and dinner, Now all I can do is wait for the storm to make it's way up the mainland. What a night it is going to be. So far I haven't over eaten too bad. I'm on my plan, but the night is still young.

I got stuck in Louisiana last night due to Ike. I am watching the Delta site right now praying my flight is not cancelled today if not I am stuck at least till tomorrow. What a crappy way to spend Saturday. I work here so if that happens I will be in my office all day working. I ate a bit too much last night myself out of frustration although nothing unhealthy.

Keep dry and safe. Your plan for today sounds like a good one. Dr. Beck also says that cravings diminish when not indulged, but I've yet to prove that one. Keep on with your plans, you are doing great and continue to do so!

Stay safe! I talked to my dad in Baton Rouge yesterday and he said lots of people are evacuating from TX to LA. Seems like an odd direction to go, if you ask me! LOL! I hope the storm doesn't hit too hard and you just get some rain and wind.

Hopefully by the time it gets to you it will have lost most of its punch. Stay safe. I'm fighting the "comfort food" thing right now not feeling good. I crave carbs when I have a cold, but it doesn't really do anything to help, so that's what I'm telling myself. I started watching the hurricanes in August because of this next week being on Block Island. They keep saying that we are due for another big one. Hopefully you don't lose your power.
