Monday, Sep 15 2008 - dealing with the after effects of the storm
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
I wish I had time to go and visit everyones blog and thank you all for your care and concern. I KNOW ALL OF US WHO HAVE HAD TO LIVE THROUGH ike feel our CK pals friendships now. I'm resting comfortable at my daughter's house with no immediate physical wants or needs except to get the juice turned back on where I live. If any of you have seen the outage maps of the area, I am in FT. BEND COUNTY which took a pretty good beating. Our transformer that supplies electricity was blown down thus making returning juice to us not an over night task. Anyway, my entire subdivision is in the dark as well as the neighboring communities...make that half of Houston proper too. I am one of the lucky ones since I had a relative who had electricity still and could go stay with the. This morning we went to our house to get a few things and to clean out the frig and bring some ice to our neighbors since son in law had some at his house. They welcomed the sight of the ice since theirs was just about gone by this point and ice is pretty hard to come by. In fact there are three things that are hard to get right now, ice, gas, and, food if you are out. A few places are open in the blacked out areas, but the lines are incrediable. You can get that food, b ut yo had better have cash since some of the places still do not have complete power. I didn't go into any of the stores since I shopped for ten days of food and not three. With my daughter's food supply and mine, we are doing OK. Hey, I guess Dr. Beck's assignment on hunger tolerance has come in handy.
That's all that is going today. As long as I am at my daughter's house I will be able to check in with up dates. Anyone hear from Amanda or our other Texas people ? I'm still trying to track down my friend Mike who lives in Galveston. He usually goes to a friends house when storms come through. my niece's house is in Lake Jackson which was hit pretty hard, we don't and won't have any word on what condition their house is in for a week or so. we do know they have no utilities at all down. My brother in law also had to evacuate from his home, no word on his home's condition. It usually floods out. So, we are doing a waiting game here. I am feeling VERY fortunate that I have just been inconvenienced and not devistated by this disaster.

wow, I bet you feel lucky. And I as I am in New Mexico I feel even luckier. Thanks for all the updates. I will keep checking in on your situation. I'd send you some ice if it would stay frozen. Maybe I should just send something to the red cross instead.
