Friday, Sep 19 2008 - power back on
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
Good news from my home. Late last night the power was restored in my block. So, this morning my husband went and turned on everything. We will spend the night at my daughter's while the house is cooling down and the frig is cooling to the proper temp. When we get home we have some cleaning to do since the house got very dirty and dusty while the windows were open. The humidity seemed to make every particle of dust stick to everything. Since the air has not been on in over a week the house has a musty smell to it, but thank goodness i don't have any mildew problems even though some water got into the walls during the storm.
I don't know if my computer will work since a few things might not have taken the power surge when things were turned on. The computer was one of the last things we plugged in because of that. If you don't hear from it is because we has problem getting the computer back up and running. We may also have trouble getting the satelite up and going, but then we expected that. Unfortunately, all the new shows are stating this week and next.
I am reading a good book to go with the class I am taking at church. there is a quote in this book that says "
We can not control what happens to us, but we can control how we choose to respond to what happens to us.That is the secret of happiness. " I felt that was so timely considering what I have gone through. It also is the beginning of acceptance to what ever situation you find yourself in, in my case that includes having to watch my weight.I will write more about this book latter.I must go now and i wish everyone a happy weekend.I hope to catch up on blogs on my own computer this weekend. Hey these lap tops are weird. I like them and then I don't. Both kids have them. Tey seem to be the rage amoung the young. You can just pick them up and take them with you...I must consider this when it comes time to buy a new computer. So, the question I ask is this, how many of you are writing from a lap top vs. a desk tp ? What do you think of the lap tops ? I know one thing, you're eyes had better be good if you get a small screen ! My daughter has a big screen which I can see. Her hubby's is a faster computer but a smaller screen which I can't see too well. Talk to you latter.

I've always had desk top computers at home and have had a laptop for work the last 8 years. My husband and I use to "fight" over who got the computer at home if I didn't have my laptop from work. We decided to take advantage of a benefit from my husband's job where they will pay 75% of the cost of education OR a computer. We got a Dell laptop for around $1000 (so our cost was only about $250) and now we fight over who gets the laptop! LOL! It sits in the living room so if we want to see what's on TV or look something up really quick while we're talking about stuff, it's just a few feet away. The other day I looked up a recipe online and instead of printing it, I just brought the laptop into the kitchen. It's pretty handy! Our desktop hardly gets turned on anymore though.

I love my laptop and easily got used to the keyboard. I'm using it now in bed! I'm going to get a new one and buy a separate screen for it. It will essentially be treated as an external hard drive with an operating system, but I will have the convenience of being able to pick it up and take it to another room ... or anywhere.
