View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
Yea' I'm home now, and everything is a-ok. Tonight we are having steak, baked potatoes, swiss chard to celebrate coming through a difficult time. I probably gained a little weight from munching down on a few snacks that I shouldn't have, but now that the gym is back open I will be ab;e to get back into my routine again. I have much to do this week end as the house is very dirty and needs a lot of cleaning. We have some unpacking to do as well as to catch up chores that we regularly do on the weekends.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Latter... Rest and relaxation time means I can catch up on my blog and record a few thoughts about the past week. I finally stepped on the scale and was pleasantly surprised to find I had not gained any weight. SIL's scale weighs 2 pounds heavier than mine, so I won't count it. I am eating a maintenance diet right now but not getting in enough exercise so I will need to cut down on a few snacks until I can get over this cold and get back to exercising on a regular basis. I did have a good PT session Friday. They introduced me to a lot of people's favorite machine, the elliptical. I had tried it before and it hurt my knees and SI joint so I protested. Then again, I was willing to try it again to see if any of my conditioning had or would change this past experience. I also learned you can adjust these machines to a lower slope and less resistance which I didn't know. Sure enough when I got on to the lowest slope and least resistance I could do it without hurting my knees and SI joint. The PT set me up for six minutes, but I was only able to do four at this time after the work out I had already done. I was still proud and happy to learn I could do this, and in quite pain. I felt muscles I hadn't in a long time time ! Some of you can go an hour on this machine, but I am just a flabby recovering back patient who couldn't walk a year ago very well so for me this was like a giant leap. Someday maybe I will be able to not only do more minutes, but be able to do this without pain !!!!
My hubby had to have a back procedure Friday at the same place I get mine, only he uses a different doctor. When I went into the recovery room to collect him all the staff saw me and smiled and commented about how skinny I looked. They asked me what was the total weight that I have lost now. Many of them are on Weight Watchers as a lady from WW comes in every week and holds a meeting for them. I seem to have inspired a lot of them as many of them have known me since I have been going there for over five years. That means most of them knew me when I was at my heaviest !!!! I think watching someone slim down would be exciting and motivating if you needed to lose weight. So, we all are being watched whether we know it or not. Whether people comment or not, you will be watched and believe it or not someone will notice. This could help your motivation when you are tempted. I know it does me because now I know I am a role model. I bump into people all the time who want to lose weight but don't know how or were to go for help. While I was waiting for my husband I met such a lady in the waiting room.
I was sharing a computer with someone and noticed the lady next to us looking up how to lose 12 pounds in a month. I made the comment that that diet would hurt her metabolism and it would be safer to lose only one to two pounds a week or five to six pounds a month... I then showed her my CK sight and she was absolutely delighted with the sight and what it could do. We discussed the Beck book and going to a dietitian as well. I was in the right place at the right time for this lady. She also noticed my Bible study I was doing and we had a delightful chat about that too. I think Nadine is rubbing off on me because she has taught me to be a positive role model and always have a positive thing to say to people. Amy, Denise, and Marjorie, and Jenn have taught me to be encouragers. Catwalker has taught me friendship as has Donna and Bess and Corrine. Dragonfly and Amy have taught me new friendships are to be treasured. Thank you yo Jane, Bun, and Susan too for always coming to my blog and making my day brighter.

Welcome back home Iory. How nice to get the supportive comments from the doctor's staff. You are so right about how we can inspire people without even knowing it. You inspire me with your blog and your words of support, and I'm sure there are many of us on CK that admire your accomplishment.

I think all that cleaning will be a great workout. I want to try an ellipitical sometime, see if I like it better than the treadmill. You are a great motivator for us all!!!
