Yesterday was my last my last day my physical therapist. I am taking a few moments to reflect upon my improvement over the past six months. Things I can now do that I couldn't do six months ago : walk 2 miles at 2.5 speed on the treadmill without pain afterwards, use the weight machines in the gym ( well any of them. I still am limited to only being able to use certain ones ),stretch and extend out my leg muscles to a 90 degree, bend over and touch the floor standing up, dry my hair with my hair dryer above my head standing up with my arms above my head, stand at the sink and wash my bras without my husband's help

, cook dinner all by myself without any back and shoulder pain, ( well, some nights I still have pain ), and finally, do a two hour workout and come home and still be worth something to husband and dog. Oh yea, I can exercise five days in a row now instead of every other day if I get my lazy b*** out of the chair and away from the TV set. Yes, that means that six months ago I couldn't do any of the above. The treadmill hurt after I chugged at 1.5 speed for 30 minutes ! I had trouble doing the dishes, much less making the complete meal.
Now, back to my PT appointment. My therapist spent my last visit going over how to divide my exercises into days. I have it pretty well divided into a five day routine with two days on the weight machines in the gym and three days at home doing all the exercises on the mat I have at home with the equipment here. I will walk or do the pool for cardio every day. Today I managed around 180 calories on my cardio workout which is good for me. I have no idea how many cals I burn doing my floor exercise since I don't get real worked up when I do them. I just want to say I know I am not a Nadine or a Kristin or a Amy or a Tracy, or a Jenn, the ever ready bunny rabbit ! You work out babes are awesome. Someday I would like to say I really can enter the workout hall of fame too, but for now, I am proud just to be able to get up on my own two feet and enter that gym with pride and say, " I did it ! "

Lory! Look at all you can do that you couldn't do before -- all of those improvements? Those are priceless! Don't bother comparing yourself to any one of us because you have overcome obstacles the likes of which I have never had to face -- your determination and perserverence puts most of us to shame!!
