View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

I went to my podiatrist today and discussed bunion surgery. I do qualify for the surgery even as a diabetic since my blood sugar is under control and I have good circulation in my feet. My feet are healthy and I lost enough weight that the surgery stands a good chance of being successful. My doctors would rather I not have the surgery if I could find shoes that fit, but that is the problem. I can't, especially athletic shoes. If I do custom shoes in the athletic area I am looking at 500-600 to get one pair to start out and around 280-300 for a second pair if the web sight is right. Bike shoes are around 1600 dollars and hiking shoes are 380. For a pair of scandals I would spend around 500-700... Needless to say, I can not afford this over the rest of my life time. Now the athletic shoes I could get resoled over for several times if the company stayed in business, and that is probably true of all hand made shoes. I think this explains why I am willing to give this a try. All I need is about 1/16 of an inch off my feet to get into a true 4E width so I can buy and fit into regular shoes and even then I will still have to buy specialty shoes !:(
I exercised a lot today and ate something I should not have because I was just out right hungry for it. Since I did my two miles and cali's as I call them, I figured I could indulge myself. This is not good thinking on my part because I couldn't keep from eating the WHOLE bagel. If I could have just eaten half of the Cinnamon Crunch Bagel from Panera Bread Co. like I planned that would have been just fine. No, this girl ate the whole thing then went home and looked up how many calories were in it. Sure glad I know I used up at least 150 calories conservatively exercising today because that bagel is suppose to be worth 420 calories ! I ate it as my late night snack so I can imagine what my blood sugar will be tomorrow. Well, I have been a bad girl lately and my body has begun to let me know. Today, though, I did do fairly well food wise except for that one bagel. Even my scale seems to be showing a weight loss this week. I'm going to wait before I put down my new weight because I want to see if my weight stays the same for three or four days just to make sure that this is truly a weight loss and not my body still recovering from last weeks illness. My pants are loose enough to need a belt though so something is up.
Tomorrow I will be dog sitting my neighbor's dog as the neighbor association is replacing his fence since the Hurricane damaged part of the main fence on the main road. All the fences down the main road are getting replaced this month and my neighbor's is one of them. A few dogs have gotten out by accident during this time and my neighbor and I didn't want his dog to escape because the temporary fence they have been putting up won't hold up to his dogs antics. She is a Welch Corrigan ( SP? ) who likes to put her nose against the fence and push put...so you can imagine she would escape in no time. Xena will not be too thrilled to have another dog over tomorrow since she is not too dog crazy. This means I will ahve my hands full trying to keep peace in a house with a puppy an old grumpy dog who will be pouting because she feels put upon. :sad3:

That is a tough decision about the foot surgery. Will your insurance help pay for shoes. It's kind of odd how that works--when I wore contacts my insurance helped pay for them, but when I got lasix which meant I no longer needed contacts, my insurance wouldn't pay for that. I bet it's that way with shoes & foot surgery too. (BTW, no apology was needed for your comment yesterday. :talking: )
