It was a Good Christmas. I managed to feed my family a relatively healthy meal. We had steak, roasted potatoes, grilled brocolini, which my future sister in law and brother had never heard of, rolls, and a diabetic sugar free yogurt pie made from cool whip, jello, and sugar free yogurt. I gave them fresh veggies, fruit, and humus to snack on before the main meal. Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas. I'm a little sore form revving up my exercise a few days ago, but it was worth it. I am stretching out a lot today and will take the dog for a walk today since the weather here has turned warm again. ( 70's !!!!) Glory, I hit several exercise goals today ! After going to my cardiologist, found out that I can indeed rev it up a bit, so I tried. I want to be able to do that stress test next week and not the chemical stress test like in years past. So, I set out to push myself and see if I could do what she said I would need to do. I had always been afraid to push myself, seriously. I went to my doctor Friday and got my blood work back and was thrilled to learn my A1c was 5.7. I finally have accomplished a normal blood sugar reading without insulin !!!!!! I'm still on pills, but I'm controlling my diabetes with diet, exercise, and medication now quite well and have been doing so for seven months. Anything under 7.o is considered good. I put my foot in my mouth today as my friends and I were at the museum. My friends and I were sitting down for lunch and one of them pulled out half a bag of almonds which she keeps in her purse in case she gets hungry. I exclaimed, " You keep the entire bag in your purse , " without thinking ! Fumbling for an apology, I explained I always measure my almonds out and keep a bag in the car as my other friend mentioned how good almonds were for low blood sugar.
