Friday, Dec 12 2008 - holiday food pushers
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
I have some food parties to go to over the next few days and will have to get my nerves of steel prepared ahead of time to face food pushers. Yea, we all know them. Now, I don't need any help with my ever going inner desire of wanting food that is not good for me. It is built into me to want some of that " old " food that is not good for me. I still crave those sweets right and left. I even dream about what it would be like to eat cake sometimes. Ok, I know some of you are saying, why can't I indulge in a piece once in a while. Well, most of you know I am a diabetic who has given up all sweets in order to control my blood sugar without insulin. It is unfortunately the only way I can do this without going back on insulin. No sugar, or very little of it, no insulin. That's the choice here. That still doesn't keep me from wanting it in my head and in my smeller when someone around me has a piece. So, I nibble on a piece when I am not suppose to at the risk of taking a bigger and bigger bite which can lead to disastrous results. That's why I have to ave the NO CHOICE rule about desserts for me. If I don't take the bite I won't go to that place. So, for the next few days I will be tempted. Thankfully, I will have my husband by my side to help me out. He usually gives in to me, but I am asking him to be very stern with me. So, wish me luck.
Off to do chores, wrap presents, clean, exercise, run errands, and all the things one has to do...have a good day.

I hope that you got through all of your parties ok. You have come so far with being able to manage your diabetes, its unfortunate that people can't take NO for an answer//as for the runs, my kids (especially my daughter) should be doing the fun run. I think my son has new respect for what it takes to actually run the whole 3 miles. He can sprint, but he just can't do a distance run (yet). I love that they are interested in it and active, though.

Lory I know EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH. I have 6 more christmas parties and once I start it's over. It's best if I don't even go, but some of these I have to go to - some I don't and decided the best thing for me to do is skip the one I can and go the the gym. I wish you well my friend, having that extra incentive with the diabetis hopefully will make you stronger and you did the right thing by telling your husband to watch out for you. Let us know how you do.

I would definitely not recommend the Jillian workouts to you, simply because she offers NO modifications for the exercises...so if you are dealing with a handicap, it would be very difficult to complete the workout, even if you went slower than her pace. The cardio portions are pretty high impact (jumping rope, jumping jacks)--sometimes even my knees are creaking! Good luck with no sweets, that would be very hard! I am sure you can do it though. Have a fun day--wrapping presents, that's one of my favorite things!
