Thursday, Dec 18 2008 - foot in mouth
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
I put my foot in my mouth today as my friends and I were at the museum. My friends and I were sitting down for lunch and one of them pulled out half a bag of almonds which she keeps in her purse in case she gets hungry. I exclaimed, " You keep the entire bag in your purse , " without thinking ! Fumbling for an apology, I explained I always measure my almonds out and keep a bag in the car as my other friend mentioned how good almonds were for low blood sugar. Yea, I had to admit I was an ass to my friend or a fanatic about the calorie thing. She laughed and said she just wasn't these yet and was happy that I had said I was the fanatic since she had been thinking of another term to describe. Well, her term would have been annul, and I guess that would have been deserving since I wasn't very sensitive to her. I do forget that that was my feelings a few years ago and I would have felt the same way a few years ago. My friends are trying to get there. They know the reasons to lose weight. They just haven't gotten that "will" to lose weight weight yet. I wish I could give it to them, but I know it has to grow from a courage that only God can grow deep from within a person. It takes courage to face the fear of hunger, the loss of ones self as you become or have to become this different person in order to change who you are to lose weight. It is that unknown that I was scared of when I started that scared me the most. Could I do it. Could my body lose weight. Would I always be hungry ? Would I always have to eat like this forever ? Well, everyone here has experienced the answers to these. I don't mind the answers now, but when you are starting out, they are frightening.
My favorite Christmas album that has come out this year is Josh Groban's albums. It leans a little towards the classical, but then that's why I like his. I down loaded it off i-tunes. I finally learned how to down load off i-tunes. Now I have to figure out how to get the songs from i-tunes to my windows media player which is where I can put them into my mp3 player. I know there is a way to transfer files from i-tunes to windows, I just don't know how. If any computer person knows how, please let me know. I am a computer dummy who never took any computer classes.
Have a good day.

You have found some great ways of dealing with overeating and have had great success, so if you are a little fanatical it is OK!!! I like Josh Groban too, I had his CD last year but I haven't found it yet this year.

I'll send you some instructions to get the songs from iTunes to mediaplayer in a PM. -- It was a remark like yours that finally made the coin drop with me, and I am still thankful for that mindless remark. So maybe it was what your friend needs to hear.

Lori -- you are so awesome. I love how you think through things, like the courage it takes to start losing weight. You are so right on. I wish I could help with the Windows stuff -- but I'm a die hard Mac user (love it!). I hope your day was grand.

Lory, I can't help you with the Windows --- I have I-tunes on my Apple, and you don't have to figure anything out with an Apple. Very user friendly computers. Lory what you said sounds like something I would say....
:bigeyes3: You have done an awesome job losing weight, and in order to do that you have found the wisdom in not carrying a huge bag of almonds in your purse.
:nono5: ...one of the things in that Mindless Eating book that they found in every single test, that the bigger the bag or container, the more you eat, no matter if you are skinny or whatever.....and it's that kind of eating that leads to our weight gain over the years....and add to that the fact that nuts are so calorie and fat dense! I think you're being too hard on yourself. Part of losing weight (or wanting to) is getting past the DENIAL. (i.e., a huge bag of almonds with you).
