View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
I went to my doctor Friday and got my blood work back and was thrilled to learn my A1c was 5.7. I finally have accomplished a normal blood sugar reading without insulin !!!!!! I'm still on pills, but I'm controlling my diabetes with diet, exercise, and medication now quite well and have been doing so for seven months. Anything under 7.o is considered good. Anything under 6.0 is considered great control. My cholesterol and trigly., and HDL numbers were great as were all of my other numbers. In fact I had for once a perfect blood test without any numbers being off. I haven't had that in ages ! My doctor even commented that I had the blood work of an 18 year old. Whew, what can I say. All that exercise must be paying off as the sacrifice of not eating fatty foods. OK, I got to admit I still have a problem with sugar, but apparently I have been in control more than I thought. This is the kind of encouragement that gives one the motivation to eat correctly and to keep up with always doing the right thing. Every night my husband ask me out of habit, how much meat or vegetable I can have as I still weigh and measure my food. Habit or what not, it keeps me from over eating and someday when I get back to losing mode it will help me do that too. In the meantime, counting calorie is still and will always be a part of me now.
In fact today I had a funny encounter with a neighbor who I bumped into at Panera Bread Co. I walked in to get a cup of coffee on my way to the movie this morning and saw my neighbor who was getting a bag of bagels. I commented about how yummy they looked and she mentioned they weren't for her but for a friend. I chuckled and said probably a good thing since she had lost around 60 pounds and it looked real good. She had and it did. Yea, she acknowledged that, but did mentioned that there were times that there ( Panera's ) Cinnamon Crunch Bagel was just a must. I grinned and said, " Yea, and there is nothing like that , and together we said " TOPPING" !! You have had to have had one of those bagels to know what we are talking about. Then I went on to spoil the moment and sigh, "Yea, unfortunately, those babies are 400 calories ! " Just like me to always be thinking about the calories and carbs of something even when I'm being BAD ! My neighbor smiled.

Well, I have only had one Cinnamon Crunch bagel in my life, perhaps it will be only one because those things are loaded with sugar and are deadly for someone like me, even if I only ate half. I do struggle with sugar temptations like the rest of you. That's why sugar is not suppose to come into my house. Like Marjorie, this girl is not suppose to have it. Avoiding it is easier if it is not in the house and I don't have to deal with the temptation. My hubby has helped me out here. Now, it's up to me to follow my own rules and not bring anything home.
Everyone have a good weekend. We are going to a movie, and cleaning up the house. Hubby is putting strips on his car. I'm cooking some meals to freeze. ( Chicken stuffed with cheese and spinach topped with marinara sauce on rice and lentils, stuffed mexican peppers with mexican rice...this will make about 4 more dinners. I'm gradually getting there Sue ! )

Hi Iory. Congratulations on the great test results. YOU are a living testimony of what good eating and consistent exercise can do for our health. Sharing your story is such a motivator -- thank you so much for making your blog public and allowing us (me) the opportunity to learn from your experience. Happy holidays to you!

Huge congratulations! What a great job you've done. I am facing my blood work at the end of January.
Dr. Myron told me if I have not improved, I'll have to start taking medication for my diabetes -- I sure don't want to do that, but keep it in control with diet and exercise. You sure are an inspiration! Thanks for the detailed blog.
