View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
I have tiny thought today that can lead to big discoveries today. They won't be original by any means, but to me they came as revelations. I have always logged my food using the CK program either in the beginning of the day or at the end of the day. Occasionally I would write down my food on paper when I was out about town so I wouldn't forget what I at or if I was out of town. Well, I have been trying too control my snacking in various ways and it dawned on me that if I carry a pad and pencil and forced my self to write down anything I put in my mouth before I ate it, I might stop myself from eating it in the first place. This worked when I was on the insulin pump since I would have to bolus any food I ate. I would always ask myself if it was worth having to prick myself and figuring out the carbs and giving myself insulin in order to eat the food I was about to. With those restrictions gone, I began to go back to some old habits which is not good. So, I am going to put pad and pen in pocket and use it as I did the pump, a reminder that food is accountable before it goes in my mouth. It did stop me this morning from putting something in my mouth. I liked the CK article on eating styles. I am a snacker and nibbler.
Another thing I must do is to figure out how to develop recipes without consuming too much of the food I am developing. It is so easy to actually eat a meal when testing out the product.

I love to cook, but I can get a bit carried away trying to develop new taste and different creations. I must be wiling to throw away things that don't work out and not feel bad about letting them go down the drain and not feel guilty about failed creations too. I guess this is why you see a lot of fat cooks.
This weekend I ate vegetarian and proved to myself a diabetic can eat vegetarian and watch the carb count. I didn't mean to do this, but it just turned out that all my meals were vegetarian. My Bg was just fine. I will put more vegan meals in my menu from now on as I enjoy them. This comes from a girl who used to be a real big meat eater and who's fav meal used to be a juicy steak. Now, it's funny how our taste change once we start getting healthier. I even had a friend of mine recently who looked at my sack lunch and mentioned how colorful it was with all the fresh veggies and fruit that I had packed along with my sandwich which also had veggies in it. She asked if I ate that kind of variety every day and I said yes. I eat raw veggies every day along with fresh fruit, yogurt, nuts, whole grains etc. I feel bad if I don't get my fix of raw veggies ! Gone are the Ding Dongs in are the Red Peppers and carrots !
Have a nice day.

Isn't it wonderful to make these discoveries??? And have a group that understands how wonderful it is??? Two weeks ago I was having breakfast with a friend and the traditional breakfast I always had at the restaurant just didn't taste good any more! I didn't finish the crepes and instead got a poached egg and a bacon strip, which I can have. Two months ago I would never have bet on that happening! Here's to more discoveries! And beautiful lunches!

That's a good idea, Lory. I may try that. At least it makes you think before you eat. One of the guys on the Biggest Loser was a chef.
:laugh5: You've done a great job of getting your health in tip top shape!

Logging ahead does it every time to me too. When I am in tasting mood, I eat smaller servings at dinner time, or log extra. It helps.

I've had those kinds of revelations too. It's one thing to hear and know something to be true...but then there is this point where you KNOW something. My tastes have changed over the years too. I've always been an adventurous eater, but the things I really enjoy eating have changed.

It is funny, and odd, how it impacts others, too. I am known at work as the food nazi, when really all I care about is what *I* eat, I'm not one to judge what anyone else eats! Anyway, good for you, Lory. A huge part of WW is tracking what you eat for accountability, and definitely helps in the decision making process! You're on the right track!
